Infinium Female terminal connectors

While on the field I lost my coil signal on my MD. It had never happen before and of course I panicked. After a moment of calming down I remembered that I had snagged the cable from the coil to the connector right at the control box. After a quick inspection to make sure that all the connector's male prong terminals were fine. I noticed that one of the female terminal's gap was a little wider than usual (on the control unit). By making sure that the connector was perfectly aligned and that it was screwed in tight the MD was working perfect. Now finally to my question: Is there any possible way of increasing the tension on the female terminal? In other words, making the gap smaller?

The reason I ask is that the my warranty expired and send the unit in would be expensive. If there was a way of simply finding something that could slip in snug in that one particular female terminal and plug in the male one with the rest of the connector.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Uncle Willy for the information... it turns out it may be something more serious than a loose connection. Every time I turn it on now, I have to unplug the coil connection and plug it back in just so its working right. It looks like its going to have to be sent in for servicing.:ranting:

Hi Uncle Willy,

I listen to ya and emailed Mary back on the 11th and have yet to get an answer. Seems like she's very busy or may have not gotten my email. Either way I'm sending it in for repairs. Its a short of some kind since its draining my batteries completely. Thanks again, Ernie

Sent the baby in for an overhaul. Guess I'll find out how much the damage is:nopity: I'll try calling Mary.

Thanks guys...Ernie

Got my Infinium back last week and it performs better than ever. Guess what, it cost me "$0" for repairs and shipping & handeling (bought mine in '94). They even switched my old coil for a new one.:yo: Garrett is the best company ever!
