Interesting few hunts with the T2se/dst

Back on August 17 I posted the results of a short hunt using 75 sens. 0 disc 2a mode. I've been back to that same spot for 2 more brief hunts. As you can imagine by the pictures this spot is is an emi nightmare . Even for DST. Some days worse than others but always a tuff go. The last 2 hunts were 2 of those worse days. I most always use BP mode but in some situations it's a little to hot so I use the 2+ series of modes. But on these 2 hunts out of frustration I began to try every setting I could to see what might be the best under the circumstances. CL mode is the deepest and most sensitive one we have on the T2. But believe it or not this is the one that did the trick even in this crackling atmosphere. I was able to set sens at 95 (99 was a little much) and 0 disc. It ran quiet. I finally was able to unscramble the good tones from the not so good ones. It's a given that you have to use a slow sweep speed with CL mode, no problem for me, I'm slow anyway. The only situation that took me a few minutes to figure out was the delayed response to a good target. Some targets would sound off a few inches past the target while the coil was heading up in the air. But by going over the ground where I felt the tone originated using shorter sweeps it banged them out. This happened on some targets but not all. Separation was no problem as long as I went slow. It's separation was real nice. Those 150 year old nails you see we're masking some bullets, but little bits of high tones swinging slow, were creeping in amongst the low tone. So I dugem.

I rarely run in 0 disc. but when I do is the only time I have any issue with emi.

Same here Chuck. That's why I made this post. CL mode, 95 sens, 0 disc , smooth sailing especially under those conditions. I don't understand why since cl is so sensitive. I just figure live and learn and don't argue with a good thing

Good job on not giving up:clapping: This is very helpful information. Thanks!

Thanks Brian, I'm a true believer that learning your machine and knowing its language is just as important, as the abilities of the machine itself, if not more so. I have the privilege of hunting on few occasions with the man who got me into relic hunting many years ago. He's 95 years old now and still hunts with a detector he bought 30 years ago . He hunts with ease and doesn't question what's a good target and what's not, he knows because he knows his detector. All us guys are out there hunting with him on those few occasions with our brand new machines are frantically trying to get the best out of our machines and he just cruises along and smokes us every time. He once told me "that's a good machine you got there young man(I ain't young by no means) you learn that thing and you'll do good". Lot of truth in that. So I think I'm gonna stick with the t2 and learn it because I like it, it's an awesome machine.

I have owned a couple of Teknetics machines in the past, a Delta 4000 and a Gamma 6000. The Delta is a really good starter machine, especially with the DD coil. I was actually impressed with the Gamma 6000. The only reason was I sold it was because of the EMI issues. I always wanted a T2 since they debuted. I have owned Garretts, Minelabs, and White's machines. They all had their strong points but when I saw that the T2 was getting the DST feature, I wanted one but the $899 price tag prevented it. I eventually sold a pristine MXT Pro that I had and found a 6 month-old T2 SE LTD with the stock DD coil and 5"DD coil. It also came with an extra lower rod and neoprene cover. I bought it and I am very happy with my decision. I also bought a NEL Sharpshooter for it. I have only had it out a few times but really enjoy it.
I have been reading all the posts I can about this versatile machine and plan to learn it well. I obviously agree that the machine is only as good as it is learned and eventually mastered. Keep up the good work and post up.

Nice finds. I'll keep CL mode in mind the next time I encounter EMI. So far though, EMI hasn't bothered me with my DST model.

Why was the coil heading up in the air? Not a good thing ... especially in an environment that is plagued with high EMI. Keep the coil to the soil. :detecting:
