invisible fence

was hunting a wooded area by a stream when my v started to go nuts, was so bad i had to use all metal audio, no clue why till i saw the flags for the invisible dog fence, 60 feet away discrim audio is useless ,get within 5 feet and all metal audio goes crazy. anybody know how these fences work and why so much emi? i can hunt around a power substation with less emi.

There is little government regulation on low power transmitters and the cheap, poorly designed electronics is transmitting a broad RF band of frequencies instead of a narrow single frequency would be my guess. It is also known as spurious radiation much like the noise that a lightning bolt makes in an AM radio (detectors too).

I have a shock collar from one of those setups he can use to test. My dogs didn't care for it (or about it) too much! My big chow just laughed off the shock and strolled past the boundry at his normal casual pace. The dude is a real bulldozer when he wants to be. Must be those sled dog genes!

So I guess the question remains; did your XLT recover from the bout with mental illness or did you have to seek professional help for it?
