Iron infested site with small coil

You know your location better than I do but from what you've been posting and If I were you I would use TTF. Set ferrous at 34 (no higher than 30) and everything else wide open. Ground at difficult. Fast and deep both on (small coil). One thing that I really don't agree on with you on your settings is that you set your sensitivity way to low. If I recall you said that you are setting it 5 and auto sensitivity is telling you a higher setting (unless I read your post wrong). I would at the very least, especially with a small coil, leave the sensitivity in auto and let it run at what it's telling you. I feel the best thing would be to see what auto sensitivity is telling you then switch to manual and bump it up a couple of numbers. Now I'm no expert and this is just my opinion so please take these suggestions with a grain of salt

You are correct with the sensitivity. I am auto'ing it now but I may do as you suggest and stick it in manual with the same reading as the auto. What will this control do you reckon?

If you go to quickmask you can adjust the amount of iron you want to discriminate out. I would start at 33 or 34 (which means the bottom of your screen will be black from 33 down to the bottom of your screen and everything above 33 will be open). Every iron target that hits in the black will null and everything above 33 will give you a tone. If you have a carpet of iron then maybe you'll want to raise the discrimination up but I wouldn't go higher than 30. You can detect in quick mask or hit the detect button and save it as a pattern. Setting ferrous that low will help you unmask more non-ferrous targets (if your digging too much iron raise it up).
Think your right about keeping fast off because of your small coil unless you're in a carpet of trash and your coil is hitting targets like a machine gun.
Turning deep on will enhance those deeper soft hits you might miss by not having it on and having it on with a small coil is no problem. In my opinion having deep on will give you an edge.
In auto sensitivity the e-trac takes three readings (High, Med, and low) and averages them out. By going to manual you're setting all three channels to the sensitivity you select. In manual you'll hear those deeper targets better. The down side is that in manual your ID will be thown off but you're detecting the Thames and you're in TTF!!! You should be digging everything that doesn't grunt iron regardless of what the readings our. I've been bumping up the numbers from auto 2 or 3 numbers (i'm guessing by going higher I'm selecting the high number the E-Trac is averaging out) and my machine is still pretty stable. The higher you can get the sensitivity the deeper you'll get. You're going to need all the depth you can get with your small coil. Be aware that iron falsing will increase if you go to manaul and raise the sensitivity too high (that's why you should either set the manaul sensitivity at what auto is telling you or a tad higher (trust me bumping up the sensitivity 2 numbers will be fine). Give it a try. If you're getting to many false hits than lower it. You have to push the envelope a little to get those non-ferrous tagets that are being passed over by everyone else

I have a high beep between 1 and 25 on the FE scale so you're thinking that there is so much iron there that I should put it at 33? But there wouldn't be much left on the FE scale. Doesn't it got down to 35?

Higher meaning raising black discrimination line on the screen. Raising the line lowers the discrimination number.

I am confused! If I raise the line up all the way to the top of the screen I have lowered the descrimination? If I raise it all the way up to the top of the screen haven't I a completely discriminated everything . Therefore I have raised the discrimination and the screen Minelab created is completely backwards? What do I know I am not and electrical engineer!

Raising the line lowers the discrimination number and increases the level of discrimination.
