Is it necessary to "dig everything" above iron or...

can I use the T2 like my CZ-70 with 4 tones? If the tones and the TID are "reliable", even for deeper targets, then can the machine be used in this manner? Personally, I'm just not a beep-dig kind of hunter of everything above iron(even though I know that this is the way to find all of the conductive targets with some real goodies mixed with the trash), so am I just frankly better at sticking with and being happy with my CZ's?...TIA...HH

The T2 is so fast that you will hit targets right near iron where most other machines will just see the iron or be masked by the iron. The T2 will avarage a target near a bad target or if there are say pull tabs and a silver coin or clad or a lot of clad you may see the numbers change because it is fast enough to read the different targets. But sometime it will take two targets and avarage them so the Id may be way off. Best rule of thumb is if you get iffy numbers but a good repeatable tone dig it and find out what you have. Iron comes in at 0-40 but two different targets could bring it into that range

Calif Paul can explaine this better then I so Paul please chime in

Christopher,

First off I do not have a T2 so this is my impression based on following the posts.

Depth and proper TID at depth, I hope its better than the MXT! I have read 8" max and others have reported good TID deeper. Which to believe?
Its one of those things where you have to use a detector long enough to get over enough targets to tell the tale, which is not always easy to do.

Tom D says the 4 tone mode is very similar to the CZ's audio and is an easy transition.

Personally... for me.... When after US coins near iron I shy away from detectors that operate in the T2's freq range. Thats just me, but is based on experience with more than a few of these "animals". ;)

If you like tones in an easy to use detector that does an above average job of giving good TID or at least enough information on the possibility of a high conductive coin next to iron/trash, give the ID Edge some thought. Others may agree or disagree on that and I invite their input as well on that statement and also on my other thoughts regarding frequency and performance on US coins.

Tom

don't have the t-2 yet but with the meter and tone i.d. you can chose what you want to dig. i have a cz-5, sovereign, and 1270. i don't have to dig every thing with the first 2 but i do with the 1270.

across here we tend to dig everything above 50 ..... we have small hammered silver coming in with initial TID of 52. Modern coins come in far higher. As for depth of TID, I've had positive ID's at depths in excess of 12"

So the T2 will average the signals on the TID but not on the tones? Like, if I am in trash and iron and I have a dime next to a piece of iron... am I right in thinking that the number will be wrong but I will hear a grunt and a correct high tone? I wont even ask about square nails... i'll just keep putting them in my pouch.
