Is this depth test reliable?

Hi guys,

Very soon i will sell my DFX and jump to the Etrac.
I saw this depth test :

I was amazed about the depth , cause i will never get this with my DFX.
Has anyone try this test themselves, is it reliable?

If I understand everything correctly he was getting about 12 inches on an air test. Depending on ground conditions, the E-Trac is very capable of getting that depth.

To be sure that is an AIR test. I have gotten atleast that at the ocean in fresh water wet sand. Again conditions will dictate depth. Air tests alone will not prove depth. Many other factors to be considered. But with that said the Etrac is reliably deep.

air test is sow allot, we tested with friend DFX and my explorer and after dozen setings and changes on DFX was not reaching coin in the air compare with explorer. explore and Etrac switch and go compare with complicated DFX.

minelab is not known for air testing sometimes their has to be ground but also minelab is the only detector company that can make the ground disappear under the coil on fbs detectors

I conducted similar tests with the etrac when I first got it, mainly to familiarize and get a general idea of its capabilities... I had about the same results only on different coins. I marked the results on a wooden ruler for future reference... I tested manual @ 30, auto @ 16 and manual @ 16.

coins tested were... nickle, mercury dime, silver quarter, franklin silver half, IH penny, '78 big dollar coin which registered at a measured 17 1/2 inches @ 30 manual

I believe these types of tests are reliable to a certain degree but are no means set in stone. That being said... The etrac is a deep machine

you will get better depth in wet ground than dry

I agree w/that 100% not only is wet ground easier to dig, it assists the electromagnetic field conductivity being sent and received ... good note detectorfreak74:cheers:

Just a heads up for ya. If you are a long time user of whites machines Please get yourself a copy of Andy's book and play with the etrac emulator free on line to get use to it as U will have some mental sound adjustments that really are easy when used to but if when used to the Whites sound and workings please prepare yourself for the dark side.
