Is this gold plated silver?

Rang 7-8 on the Nox. Found it in a drained lake. Stamped 925. JCM stands for Jacamel.. The company who produced this ring. I tested it for 10k gold and silver. Got weird results.

Is this gold plated silver or a fake?

Some jewelry is gold plated over silver.. the reason being some people are allergic to silver I was told by a jewelrer.
I have such a piece… it is gold, but marked .925.
Since your piece is marked .925, it could be gold plated over silver.
Hard to tell by the photos.

Wouldn't being under water for a few years turn gold plated silver black?

I used a microfiber cloth to wipe some of the tarnish off.

I have access to a rock shop that does jewelry as well. As long as I’m not in there every day the guy will check and not charge me anything. He get fascinated by some of the rings I bring in so he just does it. Takes him less than five minutes and he has better equipment than I do.
