I have noticed this happening more and more

I wondered if there is an explanation aside from ground properties effecting results

Lately, I've been getting very strong signals and numbers as in 12-46/47 and they have been MEMORIALS
What a disappointment!

This has happened so often that I have to ask if any one else has had this happen and whether you have a clue?

Yep we had a lot of rain this year.maybe they got a halo effect.... and maybe it's because early Copper Pennies (Mems) are getting to be 52 years old (1959) and have aquired more halo effect over the years and it's just starting to effect our machines..

Most of the deeper ones are early 60's that I hit.. :shrug:
 
I have noticed this too - but only on memorials that are on the surface or within an inch of the surface.
 
Yep - I've had several strange readings like that myself, but unlike one of the posters here we have had very little rain in our area and we are just now starting to get some rains.

Yesterday I had a perfect solid 12-45 at 5" on my E-Trac and out pops a new copper Memorial Penny. Rechecked the hole and nothing, left me scratching my head :shrug: Rick IL.
 
Happened recently to me as well.

Nickles ringing at 12-16 12-17 with my 4.5"x7" coil and this past weekend a 12-46 was a memorial penny as well with the stock coil.
 
Yes and nickels also coming in where you wouldn't expect them.
 
Yep, it happens to me also. I don't mind, I would rather have a copper penny read as a quarter than a quarter read as a zinc!

Yes, I thought you were losing it :crazy:......Until it happend to me today......as said before.....it only happened when the coin was ON the surface....the others were where they should be numbers wise.

I think you gave me a metal detector virus! From now on....send me your gold!:clapping:
