First off ...I want to thank each and every one of you who gave my family your thoughts and sympathy over the last many weeks.
Many of you did it by responding to my posts...some of you pm'd me...etc. Trust me...I don't forget things like that... and I truly appreciate it.
It has been a very difficult time for us...but I know my dear mom is now in a better place and that God will take care of her until I get to see her again.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
After everything had settled down Monday evening...it all hit home:sad:...and I realized I needed to keep my head above water. I put on the headphones and ventured a few miles away to a pounded park that always seems to give up a few keepers.
After 2 hours or so..darkness set in...but I didn't even care. I had 3 silvers at this point along with a handful of wheaties....and an injun.
I kept on going for another 2 hours or so and added one more merc (1919s)....a beat up sterling ring...and one more injun. The shallowest coin was one of the wheaties at 6". All the other coins were 7" to as deep as 10". At about 9 P.M. my shoulder decided that I needed to quit for the evening.
That's okay 'cause I planned on staying with my dad for the night so he didn't have to be alone.
I planned on pounding the park again in the morning.
Tuesday I woke up early..well actually I don't think I even slept because of stress...but I got up anyway. I planned on mowing my parents yard all afternoon to lighten the load on my dad...but the morning was set aside for some deep silver hunting at the park again.
Off I went for another 5 hours...and again I found some deepies.
My first find was a 2 coin silver pocket spill...TWO 1918 mercs in the same hole.
Yippee!
Continued on and popped out a THIRD 1918 merc from 9" down that had a rusty nail right accross the back of it...as I showed in the pic.
In fact...the SE was in a complete null for more than 10 seconds through this iron infested spot...but it had no problem peeping out the silver chirp right through the silence.
I have made most of my best deep silver finds over the last couple of years..right in the middle of a null..so no matter what anybody says....it does happen
...and I have proven it to myself over and over
. I just slow down to a complete crawl..and wait for the SE to let me know if there might be a coin hiding in the iron mess...and if there is...the SE will peep silver right through the silence.
Continued on for a couple more hours and popped out 2 more mercs......2 more injuns...and another big handful of wheaties.
I only cleaned two of the injuns...and they look sweet...so I will clean the other 2 as soon as I get time.
The total take from a 4 hour night hunt...and another 5 hours the next morning at this park......24 wheaties....4 injuns...8 mercs...1 Roosie...and a beat up sterling ring.
Thank you all for viewing my post ...and again...thanks to those of you who kept my family in your thoughts through everything. It meant a lot to me at a very difficult time....and I do not forget stuff like that...so thank you all
