Well, with over 2600 views about my G2 evaluation, and more PM' and E-mails that I thought I would have received, one of the most asked questions was regarding the G2's performance on a salt water beach.
I live in NW Oregon about 2 hours from the beach.
I am NOT a big fan of beach hunting as I like to look for old coin sites inland (and my cane doesn't deal well with a lot of sand hunting
).
The Oregon beaches around here have nasty bad iron mineralized ground to make it tough to also deal with the low-conductive whetted salts.
November is usually a nasty, blustery mess at the beach (heck, it's bad enough inland!) that makes me stay away from the miserable sandy beach.
Tuesday, today, and tomorrow we are having September-like weather!
So, without telling my wife that while she's working I am headed to a bright and sunny beach for the day, I am set to go play with the G2. I'll have all my Teknetics models with me, but it's mainly the G2 w/11" BiAxial DD coil that will see the use. I'll hope for a minus tide but I don't know what to expect when I get there. I'll hope there's a fair amount to find, but I know our beaches aren't like California or Florida or Texas or the good east-coast beaches.
I will know, however, how the G2 performs and I compare it with the Teknetics Delta and Gamma and Omega and T2, and then spend as much time as I can just hunting with the 11" DD coil on the G2. So, my post replies will be delayed today as I'll be out playing ... again ... but I'll give a report later on how the G2 behaves in our ugly beach environment.
I hope the rest of you can get out hunting today. It's 2:15 AM now and I leave in 3 hours so I'll close for now.
