It will be sunny and warm and a perfect November day to hit the beach with the G2! :detecting:

Well, with over 2600 views about my G2 evaluation, and more PM' and E-mails that I thought I would have received, one of the most asked questions was regarding the G2's performance on a salt water beach.

I live in NW Oregon about 2 hours from the beach.

I am NOT a big fan of beach hunting as I like to look for old coin sites inland (and my cane doesn't deal well with a lot of sand hunting :( ).

The Oregon beaches around here have nasty bad iron mineralized ground to make it tough to also deal with the low-conductive whetted salts.

November is usually a nasty, blustery mess at the beach (heck, it's bad enough inland!) that makes me stay away from the miserable sandy beach.

Tuesday, today, and tomorrow we are having September-like weather!

So, without telling my wife that while she's working I am headed to a bright and sunny beach for the day, I am set to go play with the G2. I'll have all my Teknetics models with me, but it's mainly the G2 w/11" BiAxial DD coil that will see the use. I'll hope for a minus tide but I don't know what to expect when I get there. I'll hope there's a fair amount to find, but I know our beaches aren't like California or Florida or Texas or the good east-coast beaches.

I will know, however, how the G2 performs and I compare it with the Teknetics Delta and Gamma and Omega and T2, and then spend as much time as I can just hunting with the 11" DD coil on the G2. So, my post replies will be delayed today as I'll be out playing ... again ... but I'll give a report later on how the G2 behaves in our ugly beach environment.

I hope the rest of you can get out hunting today. It's 2:15 AM now and I leave in 3 hours so I'll close for now.

with the G2. Also I am greatly interested to hear how the lower freq Omega w/ 11" DD does in comparison on those mineralized beaches.

Monte good luck with the beach hunting its nice here in Illinois but cant get out of work today dratssss lol.Not much of this type of weather left so im glad your getting the chance to enjoy it for you sure deserve that.We look forward to hearing about your hunt there at the beach with your new G2....Markmac

using se pro as main heater.............targets were scarce..............

to be short, of the 12 or so targets i hit, jr Gman could hear most in all metals that the se pro could hear in auto32. the shallow ones in discrimination as well.

i hit two deep dimes...........dimes i know, i have dug many with expII and pro..............pro was box mounted on my back, so i could not look at the meter.....jr Gman could hear zero and in all fairness, my buddy was there with his excal II and it could not hear either........after two scoops of sand, excal could hear and jr Gman could hear in all metals........4 scoops later out pops the dime.

will post todays dirt hunt................plowed field..............in september..............went in with se pro and marked all targets i had sticks for and then returned with jr Gman......next post.

Thanks for posting Max. Did'nt expect the G-2 to go as deep as those ML's but I'm glad to know it will work in the wet sand without all the background noise. Sure is lighter and seems to seperate very good in the trashy areas. Wish that headphone jack was on the other side for us southpaws. HH
