IT'S ABOUT BLEEPIN TIME...silver at last

Old Katz

New member
I finally found the silver. About TIME I found some, and
one is really a good one. 1902 quarter but worn.
How would you rate it:
Fine
good
fair
Also a 1941 merc, a 1964 silver quarter and three wheat cents along with some pennies and a monered
day dime.

Its probably worth about .75 cents but I think I'll frame it! :)-)

Nice going Katz ! You sure paid your dues working up to these.
Good looking silver, especially like the 1902 quarter. Looks like
you hit a good area. Wonder if there is some more silver around
there with your name on it. You never know. HH Gene

It would grade as good at best. There is also the issue of the scratch in her hair. The good news is who cares? It is a great looking find and you don't come across many quarters that old. It would be a star in my brag book and you should put it in a prominent place in yours with as many exclamation points as you can fit on a 2 x 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like that.

It has been ages since I found even one silver quarter, let alone two in one day. The Merc is a nice bonus.

About Good. But a Barber is a Barber, right?

old katz, very nice finds! three silver coins is a great hunt, plus the other goodies you found. one thing i might mention is if you can pick up the sniper coil for your ace 250. you will be surprised at what it will find in those trashy areas. good luck..........roger

I told ya' Katz, the silver and gold are just one dig away. :jump: Awesome coins and a cool token to boot! Well done, now go find a bunch more.

Yeah, good at best, BUT it is still a GREAT find!!!:biggrin:Mega Congrats:cheers:Happy Hunting!:)

Thanks all.
On the way out of town I stopped to ask about an
old building I saw next to their one and only very old filling station.
The attendant said He didn't know who owned the old building
but the house next door owned the grass/yard that butted up agains the
building. He pointed to the house where they were having a yard
sale. I asked if I could MD their yard and they said yes, so now I have
another project in the works.....next tuesday after the three day
weekend. Too many people hanging around there now.

I have the sniper coil.
I usually use it right up around and into hard to get places.
I have a new place to hunt in this old town, an old old brick building
from the 1900's. Its abandoned. The yard of the house next door butts right
up against it. The owner said I can MD there.

The funny thing is that the lady bought a metal detector for her husband
a few years back. He only used it a couple times she says, and never
found anything. I asked her what brand it was but she couldn't remember.
AFter useing it briefly, they sold it. Too bad for him. I imagine I will find
some good things there as well.

What I have found is that in the city where I live, most of the good stuff is
gone. There's still good stuff there but not as much as there was years past.
I have found that to really get the good stuff I have to "get out of town" which
is ok because I like getting into the country.

I drive a total of 82 miles round trip and thats a lot of gas considering the
prices of gas these days, but it's worth the expense. My little car gets 33.5 miles
per gallon on the open highway. thats 5 miles less than I got a year ago
when I drove it out to IL on a road trip. I suspect I have a bad catalytic
converter or its in the early phase of going. I smell the sulfer every so ofter.
My air filter is new. Of course the fule filter might have gunk in it.

It gives it character. You're gonna keep it, right? My onlt Barber Quater ever was dated.....................see pic.

Chris

I grade mine as fine but it's in my brag book forever.

OH yea. That one IS fine. Mine, looked at from the side is really thin,
as well. Yes, I'll keep it. Its probably only worth a couple dollars, more than the silver in it is worth I think.
Can't wait to get back to the old town this Tuesday and start another project there.
