It's Dry and Hot again!!!!!!

Well-known member
Today i decided to drive about 40 minutes and head to a park that i have never been to or seen before... As soon as i got there i liked what i saw... The park just had age written all over it... Huge trees everywhere... The ground was a lot dryer there than in Richmond and was kinda bummed out! But very soon after i had my first Indian for the day.. A 1899... Then i noticed some other guy out coin shooting as well,, I walked over and it ended up being JimIN.. Super guy! we talked for a bit and he told me that the area we were standing in is one that has been really producing lately.. Well we started off and pretty soon i had another 2 Indians a couple wheat's and a barber dime.... It started getting really hot so Jim said lets go check out this other park that has treated him pretty well... We got there and right off the bat i pulled another Indian... Things were going pretty well... We both had some great finds, then Jim got to the middle of the field,, He called me over and said listen,, This has to be a dime... I ran the coil over it and yep it sounded great... And it was super deep.. Jim dug down,,, The dug some more,, and more.. i was leaning over Jim's shoulder waiting for the sight of silver to appear from the ground!!! And sure enough it was a dime all right,,, How about a 10 to 11 inch clad dime  i about fell over and cried!! Definitely the high light of my day  After we parted i stopped at a little park on the way home and saved another wheaty and an old flat button... For the day i ended up with one Barber dime 1914, 4 injuns, 1885, 1899, 1900 and a 1905 and 5 wheats, 1910, 13, 17D, 18D plus one if those rare 1944's. Not to bad for some dry ground... Thanks for looking, and Thanks Jim for putting me on some goodies :beers:

Not a bad days hunt Derrelld....:detecting:
Ya got to love those IHPs and the Barber dime.
It feels good to snag some silver from the hard
ground every once in a while. We are drying out really
bad here in the North West. Will need a jack-hammer
before too long. Gold Nuggets :wiggle:

Your SE liked the bone dry injuns better than my XS. Had a good time, next time we'll go AFTER the rain.

Congrats on the nice tribe of Injuns you found. Don't you just hate them SUPER DEEP CLADS! :rage: Bet Jim-IN was mumbling a few choice words when he saw it was Clad. It happens to all of us. I dug a few 70's Pennies this past weekend that were a good 8" Deep which ticked me off also. Anyways, congrats on them great finds and good to see you ran into another Forum Member on your outing. Nothing like meeting others in person. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH D.

It's always fun popping out a Barber and bringing it back home with you. Looks to be in pretty nice shape too. Hope to see you and Derrelld get out again after some rain and see what you two can do. Good Luck and HH.

Very nice collection there doubleD.:clapping: It's hot here also and we could hit the 100 degree mark later this week. Nice finds again and good luck on your next outing. HH.

You want some cheese with that whine Darrell? Man you are killing me with all those good finds. How about a hunt? My place or yours? Im hopeing Jim will invite me for one of those FIELD days as well. Ive been talking to an older fellow here and hes been giving me some places where the old schools were. Ill have to investigate and get some permission for the fall when the crops are gone. OH and NO im not coming down when its 30 below Darrell... lol.

Nice finds Derrell. It is starting to get rather dry here & I am getting rather hesitant to go out to quite a few places I normally wouldn't worry about if the ground was wetter. I hope this chance of rain later today pans out & we get quite a bit. I hear you about digging 8" + deep & finding clad. I had a park where a couple months ago in two trips I pulled a barber dime, several mercs, a few indians, & more than 20 wheats, but the deepest coin I dug was a '67 Memorial Penny that was close to 9". Almost all the good stuff was 6" or even less!

Ahhhhh You scared of a little bit of cold weather Dew????? That's the best time to hunt... You have to dig all those iffy signal just so you dont freeze to death!! LOL
Sounds great bud,,, Hopefully after a good rain i could come up there of we can meet somewhere... I'm about sick of hunting all these parks in Richmond! Keep in touch!!
