When good stuff keeps coming up its possible to go without food & breaks until darkness and cold force me home. Each of these outings was like that. A few more keepers Nov 4&5 from a swimming spot that saw its heyday from WW2 through 1960's.
The Army Air Corps ring
is missing the wings and prop. A photo prior to electrolysis shows how crusty it was. I included two photos of the same type of ring I found
culled from my research on it. Looks like mine isn't the only one that lost the wings & prop. The piece of chain and ring pictured with it are sterling. The quarter is a '47 D.
The 1937 Indian head nickel came out looking the way you see it here. I hate she'll casings that slip through my sifter!
Saturday Nov 9, a
Way above average day for me. The gold eluded my coil but I got a piece of WW2 history. The 1945 LUZON PI ring appears to be an example of "trench art", I am learning more and have seen similar examples for both world wars. The ring is heavy silver without any markings re it's metal content. I was messing with the lighting taking these pics and turned the '42-S half over and Luzon ring to see how'd that look.
The half dollars as they came up.
I have to tear myself away from going back for a day or two, my better half wants to go for putt on the motorcycle today and it's about time to set it up for winter storage anyway.
