It's one BIG NASTY lady...but it's my FIRST after 30 years of hunting.

Thats wierd how it sounded like clad and looked like clad......I have found 4 large cents and they all looked like this on screen.....and mimicked large silver (Half Dollar) on screen and in sound to me.......clad quarters I only see 1/4 of curser and a dime bottom half...both higher compared to LC......not sure why....could be another target close by your LC or maybe the matrix of the dirt you are in....But anyways..it doesn't matter, YOU dug it and now own it!!! Congrates!!

it would hit like a quarter. Mike Moutray said almost all of his hit just like a quarter and he thought he was going to dig up silver each time. For whatever reason mine was a solid dead on clad dime hit. Even when Phil ran his XS coil over it after I plucked it from the ground...it was exactly the same...a textbook clad dime hit. Maybe because it was so nasty and corroded?. I don't really know.

I just air tested 1 large cent and 3 silver halfs of diff ones(a walker,Benj. and Jeff.) and it id'ed all the same and I listened to the headphones and I couldn't tell one from the other...so I just took the pic above and this is how they all came out.....just goes to say, just dig it....I have dug a few gold rings sounding just like pennys....etc...etc...once I found my first LC and silver half......and I see the pic above......I know I am in for a good dig....I always try to pay close attention to all info before I dig...yes it takes time but its worth it....it just adds to the suspense.

you an x1 probe brother...so you can get some more hunt time in.
Give me a call as soon as you get us something lined up...OR if you don't...that last site just may be holding another large cent or another seated for us to find...so I'd be more than happy to pound it again. In the next few days I'll swing by and we'll see if we can't find a way for you to be able to post a pic of that silver sweetie you found. Give me a call in the next few days or else I'm comin' over and hangin' the closed sign at your shop!:detecting:
I'm itchin to hunt already so I don't care if it's a new site or one we've already pounded.

All the ones he dug hit like quarters or high coins...so it would be something I would definately dig if the SE sounded off over it.

In reference to the screen shot. I found an SLQ the other day at about 7 or 8 inches that hit the smart screen consistently just like that. I thought it was a half, was almost dissapointed to see a silver qtr in the hole! Anyone else ever had this happen?

what causes it but a few times I have found deep silver that reads all along the top of the screen. I have also dug a thin silver dime that read worse than a wheatie on the screen. I think some times the sound is good but the cursor ID accuracy really drops off before the sound ID does on deepies. I remember some posts by NH Bob a while back where I thought he said he had found silver with the cursor all the way pegged upper left...but getting a great sound.
Any more...I go by sound first 100% of the time and only use the cursor as sort of a "backup" reason to dig.

Great find Bryce! It look like you've been doing well lately. Those LCs sure are sweet to find huh?... :)
