It's Slow Going, But There ARE a Few Targets Out There...

We are still seeing the biggest turndown in VB history in "target density", targets-per-hour, or however you want to say it...being able to walk a couple of BLOCKS in the surflane...in MID-JULY...without hitting a thing! Then, a target or two here and there, but nothing on a normal scale for this time of year.

I attribute this almost fully to the recession, the fact that tourism is down here big-time, the recent tidal patterns that have our beaches "sanded in", the colder-than-average temps we have had that have kepts a lot more folks out of the water, and MAYBE a LITTLE BIT in part to the increased competition of surf hunters in the lane or the increased intelligence of those who normally wear jewelry to the beach and then lose it.

At any rate, I have scored my second gold of the season since Memorial Day weekend, and a junk class ring to go with it. It's a whopper of a ring, "Art Carved" and initials in it, but looks like stainless or "chrome valadium" as they say? The gold ring is a 10K with center ruby and 3 small diamonds on either side, which test real. It's also a perfect fit for my wife's ring finger, so this will be a keeper. There is no school info on the class ring.

I'm just happy to not head home with nothing but a pocketful of money for a change! Happy hunting to you all! :super:
