where did he dig these OLD COINS? Please don't tell me the F-ing Beach~! I have never dug an old coin at the beach yet..........why is it only the beaches you guys go to? I guess its possible if it is but very hard on my chump change! :puke: I think I am getting sick.

Where there is a cellar hole on Cape Cod....I got some of METALDIG'S old beach coin finds soaking when I'm done with clean up I'll post them too.Silver coin that comes out of washed out dunes does not turn that gray/black crusty color as often...you can get some pretty good stuff!! like this I was able to get all the gray off. Not quite... The jewelry finds were from the beaches, the old coins and relics were from a foundation site on the Cape near where I grew up.
Beachhunter was doing me a favor cleaning up some jewelry finds from this past weekend and took some photos of some of my better finds from last year (I hunt the fields and foundations in the Summer, and the beaches in the Winter).

Old coins can be found on the beaches, but the salt water makes sure they never come out looking that good.

Thoughs are some nice coins....I kinda figured that but you have a nice lot to hunt there....Keep up the good work...What detector do you use for cellar holes James? and the beach? Just curious. Awsome finds Have a good one.:beers:

in winter after storms when beaches get cut...dunes get washed out..I have seen lots of post with old silver from Maine beaches.

for the beach and on land. It has been good to me but I might upgrade to a DFX or Explorer soon.

Thanks for the kind words... I have only been in the hobby for a couple of years and still consider myself a novice. I think I have been lucky more than anything and met all the right people who pointed me in the right direction (Beach Hunter, Metaldig, Boston Bob, Ron B). I probably wouldn't have found any of the stuff if it wasn't for them.

I had a lot of old copper finds last year as well that are not pictured... Colonial Coppers from a 1723 Hibernia Half-Penny to some great Large Cents. It helps when you find them in sandy soil as opposed to in the fields where the fertilizer can get at them.

I usualy hunt York ME. just cause its closest.I also will try (can't spell it) G-y beach, Wells,Moody. But when tourist time comes I usauly stay in York just cause of Maines parking....$$$$$$...the best parking is for town folk with permits. York ain't bad meter wise.Never ever found old coins cept 1 wheat.....big deal. I tried Hampton once and getting bothered by a gang of pukes one early morning discouraged me. I was by myself and would die protecting my Minelab. Lucky they didn't attempt a heist. I work hard for what little I got and I don't intend to give it up easy. I have only seen one cut at York and it didn't last very long...I feel the only way to find good stuff is get it after a fresh dropping. The sand doesn't move much at York.....I have read Hampton has some strong rip tides so thats probably why you guys (salsbury) get good cuts. I wanna try Old Orchard beach this year some time. I use to go with a old friend and his cousin till he died in auto accident so now I am on my own. I still have the fever but just is not as fun doing it alone. I know old coins are not good in salt but if your not finding gold rings then old coins is better than nothing.
