Joey Coil Still HOT!!! Weekend Finds Part:1.

Another nice bunch of finds James. I think I better try my Joey and give it some time. I went out last night for a few hrs in the park where they did some digging and found 1901 indian head, one wheatie and 45 merc. Great job on the finds. JS

There should be more Coins. Keep working them piles of dirt or anything that has been moved around. Get more time in with your Joey Coil and you may have some nice results like I have been having recently. Good Luck and HH at that Park.

I was having a hard time pinpointing with it and it was falsing a little. So I put a penny on the ground and what I found was only the rear half of my coil (the half between the stem and my feet) would pick up the penny and id it correctly. The front half of the coil would only Id it incorrectly if it picked it up at all. So when I got a hit I would try and use the front half of the coil to sneak up on the target only to get a cheesy id almost like I was trying to pinpoint the target from a distance of 3 inches from the front edge of the coil. Do me a favor and check if the front half of your coil works, cause I think mine's bad and I need to send it in. thanks allot:thumbup: My coil cover came with 4 dots of silicone between the cover and the base of the coil, not around the perimeter, but between the two. I pried the two apart, so I could clean the dirt out from between the two. When I put them back together, the cover doesn't stay on, it just falls off, which is why the mysterious silicone. Does your cover stay on or is it glued on? The Platypus I also got works really well, so I guess I just got a bad Joey.

I went ahead and Tested my Joey Coil even though I knew it works on the Front Part of the Coil for Good Sound and ID. So, Yes! The Front part of the Coil works just fine on my Coil. Pinpointing with the Joey Coil is just in front of the Shaft, where the Sticker is that has the Guy with a Pick Axe and Detector. Just under this Decal. Now, when you recieved your Coil, did it have White Tape around the Outside Edge of the Coil? My Joey did and it eventually got a hole in the Tape, so I had to remove it and take the Coil Cover off to clean the dust out of the Coil Cover. Then I used Electrical Tape and wrapped it around the outside 2 times to seal it again. My Coil Cover is loose just like yours is. Something I really don't like either but as long as you have the Tape around the Outside Edge to hold it on and keep the Dirt out, it does it's purpose. There was only 1 glob of Silicone in mine, directly in the Center of the Coil. Also, when you started getting falses with the Joey, were you using it in a wet area? The Joey's Not Waterproof unless you Silicone around the Cable that goes into the Coil. So, it sounds like you have a Bad Coil and it needs to be sent back in and replaced. I hope this doesn't give you any regrets in buying the Joey Coil Digitrich. My Joey has proven itself over the years very well and I hope you can get one that works normally so you can have some great results with it like I have. It's one heck of a Coil when used in the Trashy Area's and it can also be used in Clean Ground with some great results also. If there is any other questions, feel free to ask them. Hope this matter is resolved quickly since I know just how it feels when you want to get out and try New Toys. Good Luck and HH Digitrich!

I was using it on a dry day, so it wasn't water. I talked to Mark at Belda's and he thinks it's a bad coil too, so he's contacting the manufacturer to find out where to send it. As for the silicone and white medical tape, I guess you are supposed to leave that on cause otherwise the cover just falls off. I just thought it was on for shipping purposes. Duh. Anyway, I will be looking forward to a replacement as this 5x10 is a the perfect combo for separation and depth I've been looking for. Thanks for checking yours.
