Just Wondering..........

Raised Catholic but came not to believe some of their teachings. Have a spiritual relaionship with GOD and not in one place long enough to belong to a single church.

I would like to hear more too.....

Lisa

Amen!

Ma, I am Church of God, which is, for all practical purposes, a Pentecostal church (basically the same beliefs and practices). NOT the "Old Line" or "old timey" Church of God/Pentecostals that believe that stuff about the long hair, no make-up, long sleeves, long pants, and drab existence. I was raised in a small, country Methodist church. Around 1989 - 1990, I became sooooo unhappy with all the ritual, unbelief, and deadness. I knew, from personal experience of two years prior, that there was MUCH more to it and could not force myself to continue on there. Left and went to Walnut Grove Church of God, and it turned out to be one of the biggest and bestest blessings of my life.

We don't care what you wear to church, as long as you are decent. We do praise and worship music, regular church hymns, have drums, guitars, piano, tambourines, etc. Raise our hands, clap, and really get into the service. Have some shouters at times too. The church (or its people) are on fire! We believe in, and many of us operate in the Gifts of the Spirit as the Spirit wills.

Fairly small country church. White, with wood siding. Beautiful, clean and neat in appearance.

Hi Dirtdigginlady,

Friends churches here in NC are not much different from most denominations. We are conservative and biblical. We believe that God exists in three persons Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus, the Son of God was born of a Virgin, died on a cross to pay for our sins and was ressurrected the third day. We also believe He will return someday as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I was "borned and raised" Quaker but later "escaped" to a Pentecostal church where my wife was a member. I went to a Pentecostal college Greenville SC named Holmes. Somehow we wound up pastoring a small Quaker church. Since 1987 I have pastored three churches the third being here in Central NC area.

Methodist here. Welcome Tim--I have just finished reading some magazines and books on Quakers, Shakers, and Amish. What are called "Plain People" and I find many of their ideals good and I like many of their ethics. God Bless, Bryan

both churches I go to believe in one and only one God, not three.

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and are one God.

post here if you want but if you want to argue instead of discuss on an intellectual basis then this is probably a venue you won't to ascribe to. Feel free to post metal detecting finds and if you want to discuss issues ok but please don't patronize our beliefs with your unbelief. My title to this post sounds patronizing but in fact is true. May God open your eyes to the truth of Christ and his love for you. God loved you so much he sent his only son (Jesus) to die for your sins ( anything that is offensive to God). Everything that is offensive to God, sin, has a penalty, death, assigned to it. If you or I were perfect we wouldn't have to be concerned about sin. We would look on someone that sinned (did something bad), oh let's say 3 times a day that they wouldn't be so bad after all. However, let's take those 3 sins a day times one year. Oops that's 1095 sins, bad things, in one year. Now let's go for a lifetime of 65 years but we'll subtract 5 years because we didn't know right from wrong. So 60 x 1095=65700 sins or bad things we have done in a lifetime. Do you think that the government would look the other way over 65700 crimes committed? God can't look the other way either. Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. Not because of the Jews or the Gentiles but he laid down his life. Because Jesus is infinite he paid an infinite price, all sins for all time. When the Roman soldiers were sure that he was dead, his body was taken down and placed in a grave. Roman soldiers were assigned to guard that grave. A wax seal of Imperial Rome was applied to that grave stone. Not the type of grave stone that we have nowadays but an approximately 2 ton round stone that served as a door for the grave. If anyone were to so much as touch it you would be instantly be put to death by the soldiers. With that seal the soldiers would be put to death if they failed this assignment. On the third day of being in the grave he arose and the stone was moved out of it's place, Not to let him out but to let people in to see that he had risen. There is no body in a grave that is Jesus. The Jews were determined to make sure that no funny business happened and there were too many soldiers to bypass. By returning from the dead it is a guarantee that we have eternal life if we believe. If you understand that you have sinned and want to repent, change and go in the opposite direction, ask God to forgive you of your sins and you want to change. If you do this just to say you did or some game playing nothing will change but if the Holy Spirit is guiding you to and you ask you will know that you have changed. May God bless you with salvation.

That is why I went from Baptist to Pentecost, Lisa, because the churches I went to were spirit-filled and on fire for Jesus with the Fruits and gifts of the Spirit alllowed to do the Holy Ghost's work! We had guitar, piano, organ and tamberines and not too loud, as that is rediculous to have music so loud that you need to stand a 1/2 mile away to enjoy it! I was so blessed and learned so much in the Pentecostal Faith through the Baptism of the Holy Ghost (or Spirit) that I just couldn't turn back to another church! Right now I don't attend any church but I do listen and watch good Christian radio and TV programs and I am blessed and gain more godly wisdom to endure and overcome all things in my Lord Jesus Christ!

I do have long hair (worn in a bun) because it is easier for me to take care of (I cannot afford to go to the beauty shop)! I wear dresses or skirts when I do go to church services, because I feel more comfortable and decent in them, but a nice fitting pants-suit or blue-jeans is okay and I've seen some very nice and decent ones on women! Men wear blue jeans and shirts or sometimes a suit but not required! I don't think shorts look good on anyone who dresses that way for the services, as to me (if they are overweight) they look indecent and so do slacks on an overweight woman! But if this is all they have to wear than they can wear them and go to church to learn that Jesus cleans them the way He wants if they choose to follow His heart-tugging to do right in dress and actions! I would not appear before my Father in Heaven in indecent clothes because we are to be dressed in Robes of white and Jesus' purity and righteousness!

To each His own until God's Holy Spirit tells them other wise and, also, the best spirit-filled and prayer warrior Preacher I've had was a woman and I know God called her to preach and to lead the church services! It was because of her that I found the truth and the Spirit of the Lord Who is with me!

God does not look upon the person (man or woman) but He looks upon the heart and within the blood-covered soul saved and forgiven in our blessed Savior, Christ Jesus! Therefore, whomever and however He chooses anyone to serve Him in the capacity of their calling is up to Him and not those who follow the laws that have been done away with in Jesus' birth, death and resurrection! All laws hang on His First Commandment...To love God only and the second is to love our neighbor as ourself! Who is our neighbor? Anyone that needs a heart change to know what is right and what is wrong in His sight! The gifts of the Spirit are for today! I know because I have some of them and love God with all my heart, soul, mind and spirit! Amen!

May God Bless! Ma Betty

Sorry for you, toewarmers, as God is real and you can know He is real by calling out to Him and asking Him, If You are truly real then show Yourself to me and He will! Then, if truly sincere in wanting to know Him, He will change your heart and your ways and make a new Creation in Christ out of you! You won't have to leave your old life, because you will want to in loving Jesus so much, Who died for you, also, that you might be saved and have everlasting life in glorious Heaven with Him and not be in the Lake of Fire by unbelief, as all unbelievers will have their place in the fire being tormented and tortured for not believing in Jesus' virgin birth, death and resurrection! Right now satan is fooling you with his lies and you are headed for punishment but as long as you are mortally alive and being drawn to Jesus by God's Holy Spirit you can still be saved from eternal death!

Since you posted on here as an Atheist, I believe you are searching and seeking for the truth....soooo if you want to know and learn of Jesus, don't feel badly about asking for we are here to help you reach the absolute truth of the Bible with living scriptures and Jesus is the Living Word drawing us to all truth of Who He was, is and is to come, again! He is truth, resurrection and the life and the only way to God, our Heavenly Father! May you seek and keep on seeking, for He will reveal Himself to you! Amen!

May God Bless! Ma Betty

Good post, Bro Paul, and I hope and pray toewarmers keeps reading and I hope he is seeking the truth and I hope He finds the truth by accepting Lord Jesus Christ as his own personal Savior, too! We are all born sinners and need a Savior and Jesus is Him, our One and Only God in Whom we reach Jehovah God's heavenly realm! May God Bless! Amen! Sister Betty

Amen, goes4ever, as there is only One God, Who is three personalities are offices in One! Jesus said, If you seen Me, you've seen the Father! He was with God in the beginning and He is God and the Holy Spirit is God, I know this is strange to human-beings but Almighty God can do anything and be anything as long as it is the truth and fullfills the plans He has for us! The Book of Revelation is being fulfilled right now, however long it takes for Jesus to catch His believing, faithful saints (His servants) away from the great tribulation when the anti-Christ will appear who comes to kill, steal and destroy but he's already defeated so he cannot win, as his end will come when Jesus returns to Earth in His second coming! Amen ! Ma Betty

Nothing wrong with being an atheist. I just find the stories of magic men doing magic things 2000 years ago hard to believe, always did.

Our week day names reveal our pagan past:

Moon's day - Tyr's day - Wodin's day - Thor's day - Freya's day - Saturns's day - Sun's day

I got your message. We should all pray for him!

So, toewarmers, does paganism keep people from knowing the real truth that there is a God in Heaven and a satan (devil) in Hell?? You can believe the Bible is just stories made up by ordinary men, but the Scriptures are Holy Spirit led and revealed to Spirit-filled men of God! Just because you say there is no God nor even a devil, doesn't make it so!! I know that I know, by the Holy Spirit of God that Jesus is really the Son of God and He is our Savior that we might be saved from our sins! When serving God we are truly saved and forgiven of our sins but when we are still serving satan then we are unbelievers and are on our way to hell and the Lake of Fire, for death and hell will be cast into the Lake of Fire! You nor anyone else cannot make me believe that there isn't God Jehovah nor Jesus our Savior, for it is too late and I believe by faith in Jesus as my Lord and Savior!

I hope one day, maybe soon, that you also will believe in Him as your own personal Savior, too, and then you will know the Bible was written by Spirit-filled men, supernaturally, and written by the guiding of God's Holy Spirit! No one can read the Bible and believe in what is written unless the Holy Spirit of God is drawing and leading them into the truth and then the Scriptures willl open up like a bright light shining within the souls of mankind! God said, Seek and ye shall find; ask and ye shall receive! Keep on the broad way to the gates of hell and you will never believe and do what is right in God's sight but will keep doing wrong which is sinning against God and His beloved Son, Jesus! There is only One God (Jehovah) and Jesus is the only way to arrive into Heaven and be rejoicing in His joy forever more!

Let us put it this way, If the Bible isn't true than we just die and are no more, but if it is true (and it is) then I will go to Heaven by believing faith in Jesus and it will matter by not going into hell or the Lake of Fire and punished with torture and torment by our minds remembering we could have been in Heaven and not punished forever in the fires of hell! May God lead, guide and bless you into all truth! For Jesus is the way, He is the truth and He is eternal life! Satan is a liar and he wants your soul and conscience mind in hell with him to be tortured and tormented, too, with no escaping way out of it any more, for once judged and cast out by Jesus, you can never be saved or have repentence of your sins which is eternal death! Ma Betty

Have you actually read the old testament part of your holy book? Magic men with magic wands who sacrifice animals and have people stoned to death to please a magic man in the sky. Sounds like the stuff of fairy tales to me.

I do like Jesus's teachings though, even though I doubt he walked on water or healed blind people.

I would say WELCOME athiest! Hang around and be a part of our group. We will love you and pray for you and hope that you find something very special here.
