Kellyco...issue with items being "in stock"

I'm new to the forum. I ordered an MXT Pro and a few other items from Kellyco a week or so ago and was told that they would have a shipment of Pro's in on the 10th. I called today and they had no idea when they would be getting them in. I'm a pretty patient guy, but I still like to get a good estimate of when to expect my gear to ship. Has anybody here had similar experiences with Kellyco? The seem like a good company and have a pretty good reputation, but I'm starting to wonder. HH Shawn

It has been a real popular seller..... do you have any local dealers to check out? I would think most dealers would match prices.......

Ive had the same issue with Kelly Co on different items being out of stock. So i just go elsewhere.

As with any reseller, they are going to limit stock on hand. There is only one source for White's detectors (Sweet Home), and they supply the globe. Since the XLT has been dropped from the product line, folks that don't want to spend the dollars on the flagship have to drop back to the next in line, the MXT -Pro.There are going to be times when sellers run out of stock on what is popular at the moment.

I completely understand the theory of supply and demand (in fact, I wrote a pretty extensive paper on the theory when I was in graduate school) and I'm ok with waiting...I would just like to know an estimate of when to expect them in rather than "wait and see".

You could call the factory:

Phone us at: 1-800-547-6911 or direct to the factory at 1-541-367-6121

Last year I ordered an F4 from Kellyco, it was back ordered. They told me it would be in NEXT WEEK. I waited over 3 weeks and still no shipment. I canceled and purchased it from a local dealer and even got a FREE lesche digging tool.

Well, I called Kellyco again today at about 1600. The shipment of Pro's came in today, but my sales rep decided not to process my order today for some reason. The lady I spoke to said that the rep left no directions or notes on my account and that she didn't notate my credit card number to file (even though I gave it to her when I ordered)...basically said that there was nothing she could do until the rep comes back to work on Monday.

I have to say that, so far, I'm not impressed. I guess from what I had read, I just expected better service. If anybody has a good list of distributors/resellers, please PM me because I won't be doing business with Kellyco anymore.:sadwalk:

It sounds like it will be taken care of Monday, that's just a couple of extra days. Kellyco is the only authorized mail order dealer for White's otherwise you are limited to your local dealers, or a White's dealer operating against their contract.

Larry, I understand where you are coming from. If they ship on Monday, it will take 2-3 days to get to me...putting them over 1 week from when they initially quoted. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not concerned as much about the time it will take to get to me (ground is covered with 6 inches of snow still) as I am with the lack of (promised) communication between the company and myself. The bottom line here is that I was guaranteed a phone call today to let me know the status, and they failed to follow through. They could have told me it would be another 1-2 weeks and I would've been ok with that....as long as they called me as they had promised to let me know. I'll get off my soapbox now, but not without an early lesson about who to/not to buy from in the future.;)

Tried to PM you, it will not send you a PM. Email me, I will give you a GREAT place to buy from.

the only thing mentioned in my contract is if I build a website the detectors have to be advertised at retail,if you go to any dealers site it will be posted that way, but if you also notice there is a statement that usually says call or visit for best price, that being said a dealer has to make a living to and is it right that Kellyco has the monopoly on mail order,my theory is I sell to my freinds and anyone who contacts me and we visit for awhile then we become freinds. just saying

I have ordered from kellyco in the past with ok service, but when their pop up ads started following me everywhere I went I scratched them off my list! DBULL

Shawn, the best thing you could do now is cancel the order you have with Kellyco (call and let them know why) and order a different brand metal detector such as the Teknetics Omega 8000 from a smaller dealer. That'll help send a message that 1. customers deserve better treatment (like you said - a simple phone call would've made all the difference) and 2. Whites should take another look at the dealers they give preferential treatment to.

To finally decide on a make/model metal detector, then save and scrape enough money to make a purchase only to be disappointed by poor customer service gives the entire hobby a bad wrap. I'm sure the sponsors of the White's and all the Find's Treasure Forums know this and would give you a better buying experience.

Mick, thanks for the reply. I've done a lot of research to narrow it down to the MXT Pro. I'm giving Kellyco until Wednesday to either ship or make communication with me. I ordered several items at once including the Pro and all accessories (factory and Kellyco), the BOGO offer and picked up the Titan 2000XD Pro and all factory/Kellyco accessories for my wife and an Eclipse 5.3 coil. Everything ran me about 1k shipped. If it weren't for the discounts and specials, I would've canceled on Saturday and went elsewhere. We'll see this week...:usaf:

I had the same issue with a coil i was buying. Coil was in stock, sales rep said order would be precessed that day and shipped the following day. 2 days passed and i called them about a tracking number. I was told the order was still "pending", I ask what was going on and they said the sales rep had not processed the order. I was mad:ranting:. Finally after 3 days i received an Email with tracking number. I WILL NOT deal with them again.

So, after I emailed the company today (still no phone call or email to that point) and said I was considering canceling the order, they finally contacted me. The sales rep left a message on my phone that my order was still on backorder! When I ordered on the 8th, the rep said that they had 36 Pro's inbound and I was #5 on the waiting list, and she guaranteed that I would get one to ship out on the 14th. :hot:

I emailed directly to the dir of sales (a very nice guy, fellow vet). He called and we had a lengthy discussion. He pulled the floor model (only 10 days old) and discounted it another 75.00 and said that he will have my order out first thing tomorrow. A few minutes after getting off the phone with him, my sales rep called again to confirm the order...and that's it. No apology for giving poor customer service from her or anything else- not even a thank you at the end of the 15 second call.

On a side note, I was also made aware that (when you buy one of their buy one get one deals), you WILL NOT get the accessory kit that you get if you buy the detector stand alone. This fact almost makes the BOGO deal not worth the extra minimal savings.

Overall, we'll see how/if/when the shipment arrives to draw final conclusion, but even if all comes ok, this experience has taken WAY too much effort just to make it right and my next purchases will be sent to the sellers here on the forum.

I had the same issues when I first got started out too. Ordered another coil and some accessories for my MXT Pro. After 2 months of waiting, I cancelled the order. With some assistance, found recommended dealers who got my order to me in less than a week. Lesson Learned for me. CCH
