I've been working some really weird hours at my job the last few weeks - been going in at 8:00 PM and getting out at 4:30 AM. What the heck can you do at 4:30 in the morning ???
I can't go home because the dogs will wake everyone up - I can't go to one of my own jobs ... it's still dark out. I can't even go to the local restaurant and get a cup of coffee - they don't open for another hour and a half !
But ... come to think of it - there is one thing I can do - I can go back to some of the really isolated places where I've found old coins and relics in the past !
The 1822 Large Cent was found on a vacant lot that's next to a very old Church - it was down approx. 6" and came in as a very solid - FE 12 - CO 46/47.
It's in pretty bad condition - but like they say ... Any L.C. is a good L.C. !
The 1935 - Chevrolet Truck - Pikes Peak Race Token was found on the front lawn of an old abandoned house - it's made of bronze - is dated Sept. 6 & 7 - 1935 - and is in mint condition !
The Crotal Bell, Locket Cover and the two aluminum Trade Tokens were found in a field behind where a Dry Good's store was located in the late 1800's.
I pretty sure these tokens are from the late 1800's or very early 1900's. The larger token came from a store that was owned by "J.N.Dunlap" - according to our local historical records - John N. Dunlap died in 1932 - so I would guess that this token was probably given out sometime around the World War 1 era.The Bell still has the original steel ringer "Pellet" inside and the bottom is stamped with the number - "12" - this number stands for the size of the bell . From what I've read so far - the #12 size bells were one of the largest sizes produced - this one was probably made in the mid to late 1800's. This bell was down approx. 8" - came in as a FE 7 - CO 47. This is the first Crotal Bell I've found - so it's really nice that it's in such good condition !
All of the other coins and the piece from the necklace were found at an old school that's closed for the summer, in a Church parking area and along a section of very old sidewalk.
