I'm sorry to hear there are so many others with the same afflictions that I have.......getting so sore I can't move from hunting. It is the kneeling down to dig and getting back up that is the killer for me. A four or five hour hunt with a good number of targets will ruin me for two days. I have found that if I suck it up and go back again the next day, it's not any worse than the first day! Thanks to 'Arthur', a botched surgery, RSD and broken bones. However, chemistry is a wonderful thing.
Zee, the medallion I found is the Series 01 and has the White Tail deer on it......I didn't even know there were different ones. I did find a place on the net that was selling them for $20, new......mine hardly looks new!!
You talking about staying too long reminds me of going back to my truck. I'll get out a way from my vehicle and finally decide it is time to head home and, of course, you have to swing on the way back.....this is usually when I hit my best targets and about the time my cell rings with SWMBO calling to let me know it is dark! (I'm only a mile or two from home, not in a different time zone.....it is dark where I am, as well!!) But, this is an addictive hobby. My first hunt (in my back yard making sure that the detector worked) I found a two inch piece of 14 ga. house wiring and the next hunt resulted in 11 cents......a dime and two pennies. That is when I was hooked, big time! I've never found $8 in clad in one hunt, but, I have found 85 coins in a 3 hr. hunt. ( I was hurting that evening! and next day!!) I haven't counted my take for my first (just under) 5 months, but, I weighed the coins and they came to 12 lbs on some digital scales, 7 silver rings, 4 silver dimes (1 Merc), silver chain, a number of silver earrings/charms/tokens/crosses. This doesn't count my Hot Wheels collection (5), a number of keys, hairclips, game tokens, pins, buttons and a large ziploc of odds and ends and whatzits. I'll post a $$ amount after I get all the coins rolled......I know it is not anywhere close to minimum wage!!
