Went to the University of Washington with my club today for the last club hunt of 2010 . I got $ 7.55 in change 2 silver rings and and some junk jewlery. the hunt lasted 4 hrs. one guy hit 31 quarters there was 2 merc dimes found and a few more siver rings. aleast the heavy rain and wind waited till the end it was 40 degrees today . HH and happy new year to all Stryker

WTG looks like you had some fun on campus. I live very close to Western Michigan University, next spring am going to hit it hard!!!...hh rick in mi.

Good luck Rick we had 2 clubs there about 30 people total all rings found were silver I didnt hear of any gold being hit, they did hit a few mercs though. Just find out what lawn they lay out on and bingo thats were I got 98 percent of my stuff.

Hey Stryker47,sounds like a good tip.Are there any probs with the campus popo?? Sounds like there cool to let you roam around.....hh rick in mi.

Nice Stryker! It is 50 degrees here today..I went and hit a High School this am and was doing pretty good until the rain hit...wish that F70 was waterproof..
Rick,
I had a little chat with the MKG campus popo, they just rolled up, and we had a little talk, and they said to stay away from the buildings..I was hunting the snow piles at the edge of the parking lot.

No problems with popo being that it was the day after X-mas it was deserted, but I was there once before in July they just waved and kept going. I stay in the open areas ( like the big court yards and fields and big grassy areas ) so they dont have a problem with it. I wish the 70 was waterproof too especially being here in wa state.

Stryker that is some fine detecting. You and the F70 seem to be getting along fine. Keep it up. The F70 is really a great detector for the people that take the time to get use to it. My F70 is still in the box waiting for spring time.
It got in the high 40's with fog and rain today so I got out for a few hours with my other detector.
Good detecting Stryker and Happy Trails....Z

ZEE great to see your not up to your eyeballs in snow. Happy New Year Hope your finds are full of gold. Did you go out and get you one of those new AT Pros? how do they work. right now I am looking for a underwater one to hit some serious swim areas out here got a list a mile long and no detedtor yet just lookin for the right deal. A buddy of mine just picked up a sweet one for 100 bucks used of course but like brand new. any way HH and before you know it that 70 will be singing again its was 17 hear this morning ground froze solid so I took a nap LOL. Thanks again for all your help over the last 6 months Stryker

Looks like a great day to me, Stryker! Two silvers make it all worthwhile! I made my last hunt of the year this evening......surprising because it was supposed to be raining today. Now it looks like it will be here tomorrow. I was only out about an hour and a half, but, got about $2 in clad and a big honkin' collector's medallion put out by the North American Hunting Club, how appropriate is that!? (of course, it was the "let's go out and kill something club"......not metal detecting). Keep up the good work!

ZEEK! good to see you! I went back out again after the rain, and hunted til dark...got about 8 bucks in clad, one Sac dollar, two St' Christoper medals, one that says "call a priest", and a girl scout little pin or something...my arms and digging finger is sore!
Roland, I got one of those NAHC coins in november...it has the Grizzly Bear on it. I think theres four in the collection, which one did you find?
I'm heading out this am as the temp is @40 and dropping steadily back into the 20's..
Happy New Year all!

Stryker/mudpuppy thanks for the good words. Sometimes all a person needs is some encouragement to keep going. Gad, sometimes when I come home after a hunt my old body is a hurting something fierce. Not only hurting but I only have 7 coins after hours out there digging. I come in here and get on findmall and see some great finds by you guys so, I say I'll try it again tomorrow. Thank you guys for the encouragement..
Stryker I hate to say this but I never get tired of looking for a new detector. I hope your not the same way? I did pick up the AT and like all my other detectors I have to put the time in to find out what the heck it is trying to tell me. To me every detector is so different that signals just doesn't make since to me. It takes weeks of digging before I start to get it. By the way the F70 was not easy for me to get used to. When I first got it I couldn't hear those so called hard/solid hits. It took some time to get to that point.
Mudpuppy digging $8 is a lot of coins, no wonder your arms and fingers are sore. Take it easy and have fun, It is a hobby. I only say that because many times I forget that it is just a hobby and I am having fun. If I am at a good site and digging coins like crazy I usually stay too long and have to soak in the tub for a long time just so I can stand up straight. You see I am not normal either. I fit with you guys... Thanks again and your words are appreciated. Happy Trails ..... Jer/Z

I'm sorry to hear there are so many others with the same afflictions that I have.......getting so sore I can't move from hunting. It is the kneeling down to dig and getting back up that is the killer for me. A four or five hour hunt with a good number of targets will ruin me for two days. I have found that if I suck it up and go back again the next day, it's not any worse than the first day! Thanks to 'Arthur', a botched surgery, RSD and broken bones. However, chemistry is a wonderful thing.

Zee, the medallion I found is the Series 01 and has the White Tail deer on it......I didn't even know there were different ones. I did find a place on the net that was selling them for $20, new......mine hardly looks new!!

You talking about staying too long reminds me of going back to my truck. I'll get out a way from my vehicle and finally decide it is time to head home and, of course, you have to swing on the way back.....this is usually when I hit my best targets and about the time my cell rings with SWMBO calling to let me know it is dark! (I'm only a mile or two from home, not in a different time zone.....it is dark where I am, as well!!) But, this is an addictive hobby. My first hunt (in my back yard making sure that the detector worked) I found a two inch piece of 14 ga. house wiring and the next hunt resulted in 11 cents......a dime and two pennies. That is when I was hooked, big time! I've never found $8 in clad in one hunt, but, I have found 85 coins in a 3 hr. hunt. ( I was hurting that evening! and next day!!) I haven't counted my take for my first (just under) 5 months, but, I weighed the coins and they came to 12 lbs on some digital scales, 7 silver rings, 4 silver dimes (1 Merc), silver chain, a number of silver earrings/charms/tokens/crosses. This doesn't count my Hot Wheels collection (5), a number of keys, hairclips, game tokens, pins, buttons and a large ziploc of odds and ends and whatzits. I'll post a $$ amount after I get all the coins rolled......I know it is not anywhere close to minimum wage!!
