Took a day off earlier in the week from my detecting job to do some striper fishing over on Lake Quachita, which is near Hot Springs Ak. Had a nice day on the water with our oldest son. Hit the turf yesterday and today and the only silver coin I have found of late just came in the mail from Elton, a nice 1925 Mercury, as the result of a small Super Bowl wager we had on the game. One of my better finds of late was the Mont Blanc Generation pen. Probably a recent drop as it was just under the leaves. Got it yesterday and the junker one this morning. Got a gold plated ring also yesterday with what looks like the initials LL on the top. Also the silver chain which has 925 on the clasp. This morning, dug the 14k wedding band, small 925 silver ring and another broken piece of silver along with the silver looking, but junk ring. Got the 1910 V nickel yesterday and the 1893 and 1895 IH cents this morning along with the Harley Davidson glasses. The IH's were within a foot of each other. The wheat cents are 20s, 39 and 46. Dug some of the lead and mini's yesterday and today. Along the way dug 5 clad quarters, 4 dimes, 4 nickels and 21 zinc and Memorial cents among a few other items. Someone else is hunting these woods as I am finding fresh holes, dam it, UNFILLED. A couple right beside the walking trails. I refill all I find, but that crap will get us banned from hunting the site and someone also could step in one of the holes and break something. I just don't get people not refilling their holes. I couldn't help but think that, because they were freshly dug holes, your car was there and Chris and I have never run across any other people out there detecting other than you. Chris and I always thought that we were hot on your trail to finding your honey holes when we found those freshly dug holes. Glad to hear you say its not you.

I wasn't pointing a finger at you tabman, I figured you hadn't been hunting with your broken wing. I don't know about Chris? Someone, though, is. I swept a spot yesterday on the east side and walked in on the same trail I left out on yesterday and found two fresh digs, unfilled, on the side of that trail that weren't there yesterday. And, I wouldn't get ticked off with someone who was not filling their holes if I wasn't hauling off my trash and refilling my holes. With everything now going on with that site, we would be fools to draw attention to ourselves. Hope your arm in mending. HH jim tn

Jim, the last time I hunted that place was the day Tabman and I were hunting and he decided to use his arm to pogo over a tree and broke it. There is no way I would hunt that area alone without a back-up as well. Tabman told me that you know a lot of those folks cruising around out there which is why you feel safe and we never did.
Like you. we found plenty of fresh holes during our hunts and many still had trash in them. Some of the holes were the size of bowling balls and unfilled. If they had bears in those woods, I would blame it on them but since there are no bears, its got to be a human. Hopefully the ticks that are coming out will eat this person.

Sounds like its an afternoon job...a real mystery we have on our hands gentlemen, yes a real mystery indeed! I suggest you solve it quickly, and perhaps school this errant excavator in the ways of detectology. You already know its somebody hitting it when you arn't there, and it isnt one of you, or a bear, bigfoot, or alien of some sort...It would be a shame if you all get booted from "The Merry Widow Woods", and have to find some other place to whip it out, show folks your junk, and whatnot.

I worked the major thoroughfare (south) side this morning and I hadn't been on that side in a couple of weeks, nor you guys, and found several fresh dug holes. These, however, were all filled in, but you could tell someone had been there as the leaves were kicked around and the fresh dirt showing. There is a crew in there cutting and hauling off so call invasive shrubs and plants like kudzu. Maybe they are doing some digging, too???? Anyway, if it is another hunter, we'll run into him one of these days and we can stuff him in one of those holes. Oh, just so you guys know, I don't know any of those guys "cruising around out there," and actually seldom run into them. Most, I suspect, are still in la la land when I do my hunting. HH jim tn
