Last Day of Relic Hunting

Today I hunted the cornfield where I found 4 bullets on Tuesday. The .36 caliber Colt pistol (last row, first from right) was right on top of the ground. I think two of the Sharps are ringtails. The piece of brass with the twisted wires is part of a rifle cleaning rod (I think).

While walking back toward the Jeep I got a signal that I thought was junk, too shallow for a bullet or so I thought. I passed it up and went another 10 feet and then thought about it and decided to go back and see what I was going to leave behind. Glad I did as it was a .44 caliber Colt. I left it in the dirt it was found in. When in doubt check it out!

Time to head back to Pennsylvania.

Again, good finds. I was lucky enough to dig a ringtail and a 44 on Saturday. Love the cav stuff!

Ringtails are good finds...congrats on that! I think the bottom row, two bullets on the left are Ringtails. They have just a little protrusion on the bottom. I stated in another post that I have hunted my uncle's property since 1974 and I have only found one Ringtail and that was last year.

They do look as though they could be ringtails that have degraded. I've found probably 15 or 20 in the last two years since I've started detecting. The farm I had found them on was lost do to some land conservancy deal. Darn it! Always needing new ground to hunt!

Good weather is here, great finds.
