Last few days Omega finds.

Ended with 6 silver coins and a sterling Religious medal for the my Mon-Fri hunting. Along the way were a dozen or so wheat cents, some clad, camp lead and a round ball, that I cut off with my picture taking. The 3 Mercs are 17s, 17d and 43s. Then a 64d Rosie, 42p war nickel and a 43 Washington quarter. The sterling medal was a 84 reading with a flick of an 85. The well worn Mercs read 84 and the lesser worn 43s was a 85-86. 11" coil, d4 tones, gb of 58-62 and 1 disc and 99 sen. HH jim tn

Nice! Sounds like they registered just as one would like/expect. I always like to see readings given for finds. It is a learning experience and ties it to the finding experience. Who wants to look at old coins for fun (OK my in-laws who are collectors, not hunter/finders)?

Terra, the war nickel was about 4" and was a nice 56-58. As has been mentioned on another thread, I, too, have dug some quite deep nickels with the Omega, F 75 and the F 75 LTD that the vdi's were quite a bit higher then normal nickel readings, but in the bouncy numbers there was enough nickel reading numbers to think it could be a nickel. Also, on certain sites, a lot of us will dig some of those bouncy, iffy, kind of off the wall readings. Doesn't always pay off, but when one does it makes digging a few worth while. mud, when ever I can I run as high of sen as possible and that is most often 99 with 1 disc with the Omega and I never use notch. I've never run sen lower then 70 or so with the Omega, so how much more depth I might get at 99 is an un-known to me, but I assume I'll get a bit more, at least. Mainly, though, the audio is better for me, a tad louder on deeper targets and seems to be more clearer and distinct. However, if a site doesn't have the potential for silver, one probably won't find any regardless of settings. Thanks again everyone. HH jim tn

I will take them kida finds all day long...Why I am giving up my Whites for a Teknetics...:teknetics: :detecting:

HH,

(By the way, I only count silver half-dimes, dimes, quarters, halves, and dollars. War nickels don't qualify in my book. :) )

Sorry Monte, but I count them. :) With the Walker half I found yesterday with the LTD, I am setting on 113 for the year. Of which, 6 or 7 are war nickels. Haven't seen you posting much of late. Hope all is well. HH jim tn

No problem, I was just curious from my point of view. ;) We used to recover so many coins in the latter '60s and through the '70s that we simply reported a tally of "war nickels" in our discussions. They didn't have a high percentage of silver content, so only the

Jim:
Congratulations on all that silver.. you are really smack'in them this year! I've been spending a lot of my detecting time learning to use an old Sovereign XS-2 (my Delta is always at the ready behind my pickup bench seat). The Minelab is much harder to learn than the Teknetics, but it does great in salt water - where I've been spending most time. Your previous finds really impressed me Jim, but holy cow, you really are finding the good stuff this year!

Monte:
I hope you find more time to hunt - heal quickly.. your wealth of knowledge and eagerness to share it is always genuinely appreciated:thumbup:

Monte,

You found them all !
