Last two hunts........Nickel Grand Slam!!!

Hawkeye Jim

New member
These are my finds from Wednesday and today at the old school grounds.............Wednesday I dug a first for me, the Shield Nickel, it has a lot of corrosion on the obverse right where the date would be, but I was happy as a lark.........also dug the 1927 Buffalo Nickel and a Jefferson Nickel, was hoping for the V-Nickel but ran out of time. Also got some wheats and the two Mercs!

Went back this afternoon and completed the Nickel Grand Slam at this site with the 1908 V-Nickel........probably doesn't really count since it wasn't done on the same day, but it was still at the same site.........no silver today, but did get the little 4-H pin for Entomology that's marked 10K GP (Gold Plate).......plus some deep wheaties.

HH all..........Hawkeye Jim.

Way to go on the nickles.. So far I have been skunked on the Indian heads. The Etrac seems to love nickles which should translate into a few gold rings.

Congratulations on the Slam, Jim! Thanks for the pictures.

Great finds! I'm not sure if I've ever found a shield nickel. I know I've found a 1883 V nickel. Looks like two fun days!!
