Well, I didn't journey out like I usually do this past weekend so I knew the finds were going to be hard to make. I decided to stay home since some cousins were suppose to come by. One of them was having her birthday and she wanted a BMX Bicycle (1 of about 15 I have from racing days), so I took a Schwinn I had and did a Metal Flake Red Paint Job to it and put it together for her. The cousins never made it out this way but when they do, she will be surprised at her late birthday gift. Anyways, this coming weekend I am hoping to venture out again and bring home more Silver, hopefully.
I met up with Rick(ND) in Lindenwood Park in Fargo for a few hours on Friday and Saturday. Rick didn't fair well with only a few Newer Coins. Reason he wanted to try it was that on Thursday Night, I found a few more Wheats, an Indian Head, and a 5 ORE dated 1875 from Norway. I have never found any Barber in this Park but have found a few Indian Heads before. We hunted for awhile and I found a couple Wheats along with a Silver Roosevelt Dime and also a Barber Dime that I found within about 20 Minutes of being at the Park, my first out of this Park. The Coins are in this Park but they are Deep for the most part with a few close to the surface do to flooding by the river every Spring. When it was time for Rick to leave Saturday, I told him I was going to go try a local School and see what was there. I pulled 4 Wheats, an Older Jefferson Nickel, an Older Canadian Penny, and a Sterling Silver Ring.
Sunday, I tried a few different locations and went to one thinking that I was sure to get a Silver Quarter at due to not many detecting it that often. I found a few Wheats, a Medallion, and finally found a Silver Quarter that I was after. A dateless Standing Liberty Quarter but I will take it. I also stopped at a Ball Diamond with a Park next to it. I found a few Wheats and another Older Jefferson Nickel. There was also another Park I stopped at and was hoping to get a Toy Car since I didn't have one yet for Find of the Month. I finally found one and it is an Older Matchbox. During this weekend, I dug tons of Clad which also adds up and threw that in with the rest of the Clad Coinage that will be cleaned at the end of the year.
So here is what I found during the 4th of July weekend. I only got 3 Silver but at least I got out and enjoyed detecting. The Silver included 1 Standing Liberty Quarter without a date, 1 Barber Dime dated 1901, and 1 Roosevelt Dime dated 1964. I found 2 Nickels which were both Jefferson Nickels dated 1938-d and 1954-d. I also found 1 Indian Head dated 1901 and 2 Older Canadian Pennies dated 1952 and 1953. For Wheat Pennies, I found 25 of them (about half of them came from Lindenwood Park) and they are dated 16-s,18-s,19(2)20,26,28-d,37-d,40-d,41,(2)44,46,46-d,(2)48-d,49-d,50,50-d,52-d,53-d,(2)56-d, and (2)58-d. The rest of the finds will be posted in Part:2. Good Luck and HH to you all.
