Laws concerning MDing

You would think they would be posted like all the other signs you see at park areas, etc. Here where I live they post all kinds of signs but none refering to "No Metal Detecting". As I said on another post here, now against the law to MD any city, county or state park. Have to drive out of town to another town to hunt parks. Everyday there are more and more places put off limits to MD's. My MD club is constantly trying to get local MD laws overturned.HH

If you do take it, at least if the opportunity is there then you'll be glad you did. If you don't take, you might wish you did.
There has been plenty of post's from folks in Florida.
I would think a stroll along a beach might make a fine day.

I live in Canada too, and have found no real problems. If in doubt, contact the 'authority having jurisdiction' One example was an historic site that I wanted to hunt, so I contacted the municipality and was given a letter back that said 'you can metal detect there as long as you don't disturb the ground' go figure...
btw, I hunt there, and just make sure that the ground is left with no trace of my digs..

While detecting there, has anyone approached you questioning you being there with a detector? and if so, have you had to show them the letter you received?
The "Don't disturb the ground" is vague. You would think a little detail would have been appropriate - leaves that open to opinion.

I was hunting a public park once when 5 officers surrounded me. MDing here is legal. Said someone called and told them a man with a machete was in the park.
