Lead object with eagle.

Found this at a 1850 to 1890 homestead. It looks to have an eagle imprint it. Size is roughly half dollar.

If there is an eagle or image on it , it may have been a seal that had to be removed before opening a box or container, it looks as though it was punched and cut from something. Is there anything on the other side?

My guess is that it's the lead from inside an early to mid 1800's bridle rosette. They were made from a thin piece of stamped brass that was lead filled. This lead had fallen out of the rosette but retains the eagle image from the brass shells interior.

That is a civil war breastplate not a bridle rosette.
some rosettes also had lead backs though.

taz42o, you could very well be correct. A breastplate was also one of my guesses but I thought they were usually oval shaped. Being half dollar size, I assumed it was a rosette. Could be either one.

I meant the picture you posted is a breastplate.
