Sven/OldBeachnut,

Do you guy's know where I can purchase Leather Pads for replacing on these two: Pro Ears Ultra NRR 28 or Pro Ears Ultra 26 ?

I am in the process of building a pair of headphones to match the old Ratphones that I used to have years ago.

Really like your posts on headphones. Really appreciate any info. or direction on these.

Thanks,

TC-NM

Thanks TC/NM....Sevn is the man, I'm still a rookie.

I just ordered some ..........................for the skullies to use this summer, just to see how they do....

Question, Why the kobitones?

Well the Sunray Pro Golds that I presently use have a more treble (higher) tone than the Rats that I used to own. I'm presently building a pair with with the Kobitone - 25CE500-RO's but I'm looking into building/experimenting with a pair using 300 Ohm and one with 150 Ohm speakers. I just like the Rats with the more of a mellow (bass) tone.

Why you ask? Are there other alternatives you suggest?

Thanks for the link to Aircraft Spruce.

I have tried what you said, spliting the the audiosears and the kob500, and got one side louder then the other but not a bad combo in stereo, and this is wired in series. My applications are for the water also, so tuffer to find IP67 pots to equaling out the audio....Keep me informed on your progress, you may want to try the 300ohm speaker from Allelectronics...Sven turned me on to them, for the price. A good speaker, and it looks just like the kob500

OldBeechnut,

I've seen these videos before, again thanks. . . Very informative. Do you have any suggestions for volume controls (linear taper potentiometers)?

After reading other sources, I only know that designer / builder of Rats used a high end heavy duty for the volume controllers; but I don't have a product name, etc.

I like the idea of Sunray's using separate volume controllers vs. my old Rats used only one control knob. So I'm leaning in that idea.

If by yours or Sven's suggestion(s) on the pots, I'll then choose the right ohm rating that I need.

Thanks again,

TC-NM

I just remembered, is there pots that have dedent clicks like the Sunray's out there in the electronics market?

Just a guess but 5k rotary pot. Sven is the master on those.

Hi,
Here's some info on cloning the rat headphones....By Sven.

Hello Whimpster,

Got the information and Thanks. By the way, on page 34 it shows a comparison of two potentiometers, one carbon and one cermet. What brand of maunf. are there? The cermets are sealed from the elements is what I heard.

Thanks again
