Well now that I got mt my new Safari I keep racking my brain for new spots. On Friday after work I thought why not hit Grandpa's yard ! He's been there since the twenties!! Never had a detecter there. So I go over and start in the front yard. It started out good. the usual dimes, quarters pennies. then I started down the side of the house and got a good signal by the end of the porch. At 7 inches. So I dug down and there it was!My first silver half..I could'nt belive my eyes.As I cleaned it off the date said 1900. WOW.Needless to say I did my little silver dance. This Safari is starting to make me very happy. So I go to the back of the yard and start going around.Weatie.Weatie,Weatie great. Then another good signal.Dig down and what do I see But a pocket watch.Well about now I'm dancing all over.I continued to find more coins. All this in 2 hours. It was one of my best days. Can't wait to get back.Grandpa is in a assisted living complex but tonight I'm going to show him the treasures he has been walking over all these years. I'm sure he won't belive it..I'm really having a ball with this MD.Well got to go.Keep on digging. I'll keep you posted..

Dave. WTG ! It would really be something if that pocket watch turns out it belonged to your Grandpa or another relative and he could tell it's story. That'd be worth listening to. Would like to see pics of the watch and that 1900 Barber half, if you would've mind posting them for us... HH

Sounds like you have got a great place to hunt. Like K-4 said, You're grandpa may remember some great stories about what has been lost there. Take your time and I'm sure will find many more great finds. Good Luck and congratulations. Keep us posted. HH:minelab:

I'll bet your Gpa will be thrilled. I lost my Gpa while I was overseas in the Service. I always wished I had taken the time to sit and visit with him as an adult. He told me only a few stories about how things were and what he did when he was a young man and I being a mere child of 16 or so didn't really pay much attention. I've regretted it so much over the years. Go and see him and ask him about his life experiences and go home and write them down and you will have a wealth of history relating to your kinship. Their stories are so darn interesting to me now but I missed my chance. Onus

That was a great story!

Maybe you can also tell us about your settings! It's always good to know
how people have their machine set up.

Were you using the stock coil?

Post some pictures, if you can. It is always cool to see some awesome finds like that.

Good Hunting! Q
