:look:OK something to ponder  this is a true story it happened today about 5 miles from me...

OXFORD-A 12-foot Burmese Python was responsible for the death of a 2 year-old Oxford girl.

According to Sumter County authorities, Charles Jason Darnell discovered Wednesday morning his snake was missing from its cage in the home he shared with his girlfriend Jaren Hare.

Darnell reportedly found the snake in the bedroom of Hare's daughter, wrapped around the little girl. Sumter County deputies and EMS personnel responded to the scene, where paramedics pronounced the girl dead.

Spokesman Lt. Bobby Caruthers of the Sumter County Sheriff's Office said the tragedy is being investigated and the child's mother and her boyfriend could face charges.

this could seem like a tragic accident or could it be something more. I mean in this day and time, I have read some really wierd stuff and things people do to kids. I'm not saying they did anything wrong, other than having a python in the same dwelling as a little child, but it makes one wonder.

Actually a 6 week old baby was mauled to death by a Pomeranian. You can find it by typing "infant killed by pomeranian" in the search engine.

Can You Tell An Aggressive Dog By It's Breed?

The most horrifying example of the lack of breed predictability is the October 2000 death of a 6-week-old baby, which was killed by her family's Pomeranian dog. The average weight of a Pomeranian is about 4 pounds, and they are not thought of as a dangerous breed. Note, however, that they were bred to be watchdogs! The baby's uncle left the infant and the dog on a bed while the uncle prepared her bottle in the kitchen. Upon his return, the dog was mauling the baby, who died shortly afterwards. No worries. I believe your safe with your little Pom. BTW it's SUPER CUTE!!

I think parakeets are a safe pet. They're cute too.

Had they been "responsible" snake owners..... Their child would still be alive.

Today they had an update on the situation. Apparently they kept this rather large, 8' 5", snake in its aquarium using a "quilt and ropes"?!?!?!?!?!?!

Marajuana was also found in the home.

This was a tragedy waiting to happen. :veryangry:

I feel sorry for the child. Her life was needlessly cut short in the most horrible way imaginable.

I think the parent/boyfriend should be held accountable for this death. I'm sure the snake will "eventually" be put to death as well.

You really can't put the blame on the snake. Sure it killed her, but it was the mother an boyfriend that put their child in harms way. I hope their punishment fits the crime.
