My stock coil came up broke after my hunt on Sunday, one of the ears on the yoke broke off. Not sure how it happen, I was cleaning my machine after my hunt and noticed a wobble and found the ear broke off. I'm working with my dealer to get a warranty replacement. But can't go without a unit so I ordered a 10 X 12 SEF till the stock 11" Pro coil is replaced. Any body out there using the 10 X 12 SEF and if so what kind of feedback can you offer. Any help is appreciated!

I have used almost all coils out there that 11 in stock coil is the best one ive found and the x5 by sunray is killer in trash I love when people tell me the park is hunted out I tell them it hunted out till it is etracd out

I don't have a 10x12 sef but many diggers swear by them... "higher sens with more stability and deeper". Let us know how you like it and good luck! I like the pro-coil a lot but every once in a while I put on the little 8" (got a killer deal on it LOL)

HI Bill,
I use the 10x12 Sef predominately on my E trac. Both pro coil and the SEF are similar in response and sensitivity and depth and most folks will not be able to tell the difference unless you use each one of them allot. The pro coil is a bit lighter, The SEF swings like a vacuum which I like the ergonomic feel to mentally. The SEF had a bit better stability out in my highly mineralized soil I hunt in and I got a few more clicks on the sens. The SEF sensitivity to even small 22 shells and tiny items is impressive and I liked it from the first day I used it and never went back to the pro coil. It is a deep seeker and the oval or butterfly shap gives it a bit of an edge in the sweep of difficult areas. Also It just looks cool. You will not be disappointed it is a quality coil and there are lots of solid posts on it and very few negatives.
I am not dissin the pro coil, just giving you my best answer to your question. You can also read Bryce's Field test of the different coils and the explorer forum and you may find that help full.

good luck

Durability is the main reason I sold my Pro Coil soon after getting the E-trac. Most of the reviews I read stated that the 10x12" SEF was virtually equal in performance. I do a lot of hunting in heavy brush and the paper thin ears on the Pro Coil just looked like an obvious weak point, I guess It was a wise move. After using the SEF I have no regrets about getting rid of the Pro Coil and since the SEF is only $170 on the Bay I actually ended up about $40 ahead. :detecting:
