It was either a 41, 42, or 43 Merc...I was very happy! I dug a few more wheats and then ANOTHER Merc dime of the same timeframe. I went back there the next day and I dug another handfull of wheaties and another Merc or two - I can't remember, but now I felt like a PRO
and I had some confidence that I could finally dig good stuff. My next stop was the town center of the town I grew up in - my first signal there - a BARBER dime.....it was so amazing, such a beautiful coin - I didn't even know what it was called (still my favorite coin type as far as looks - this guy knew how to design classy looking coins - not the junk we have now......who the heck wants to look at dead Presidents anyway!) - I think I dug like 4 or 5 silvers that weekend after six months of nothing. I went on to dig about 60 - 70 more silvers out of that little park that summer, including Barber dimes, 2 SQL, IH cents, some cool relics, and my first LC! Man was I hooked!
