Thanks everyone .... now I need to go set in my rocker, wrap myself up in a quilt, take a pain pill with some prune juice, and have a nap.

Here's to hoping I wake from my nap before the prune juice kicks-in

Yeah! Ask a kid today if they would want to go smelt dipping!
We also used to head across the bridge, and with a few drags of the seine, loaded up a 55 gal drum and headed back, (with the usual hassle at the border) then be up all night cleaning and freezing the tasty little buggers...The "old fellas" that can remember going from the stone age to the space age in one lifetime, sure saw some changes on this Planet, and have some great stories..

everyone wondered what we were taking it along for. We took it to carry smelt. We dang near filled that sucker up. They were just thrown in and we headed for our home in Keego Harbor Michigan, near Pontiac.

We had dang smelt sloshed all over the dang highway all the way home. It was ok as we moved but stopping and starting was a mess. We were young and stupid but thought it was a great idea at the time. We cleaned fish as long as we could stand it and the rest went in my mothers flower bed. Her flowers are still best in that corner and that was in about1960.

On most trips down there we would stay until daylight so we could walk the beach and pick up what ever people left. Man there would be thousands on a good run. We found nets, lanterns, all kinds of crap in the trash that was left. People are really pigs when they get drunk and many were.

I ain't old at all, but I scored a 14 on that test!

Wow, I thought me and my friends were the only ones who made "underground forts". This is why I live in the same small town I grew up in. I can still let my kid go play all day and not worry about him.
