LTD depth accuracy

Good stuff, I am taking notes.

It make sense, my first few times out with the f75 there was so much noise I found myself just walking and swinging. When I switched to the 5" coil things got a little more in control and I was hunting again. I will give one tone a try.

Thinks for the tips

Tommy looks like I may need to hunt in je process some since your coins were hitting so good in the test garden.......I always hunt in bp......hh.........Dan

I just went out to my test garden and my 10" deep quarter reads 10-11 inches deep and it picks it up very good in JE mode and DE mode at 70 sensitivity with a soft sweet tone and no headphones.
My settings:
Sens.=70
disc. = 6
notch = 1
tones = 1
mode = De or Je

Well I was back to my test garden today with the settings suggested above. Well my f75 hit all the coins in the test garden. For me I could go either way on the tones one or 3, I have been using detectors with tone control for several years.

Here is where I got a little confused, with the disc. set at 6, the coins were detected but all except the 3" coins. They were reading low iron on the ID. I turned up the disc., and the coins were gone. So where does the dig or no dig come in? Am I missing something, by turning down the disc., isn't that pretty close to running all metal and you would dig everything?

Just to get back on the original topic of depth. I thought I would try the little 5" coil with the same settings and to my surprise it hit all the coins as easy as the standard 11". Another surprise was that the depth was acting up a bit. The 3" pennies, the 8" nickle and the 10" quarter were close to the same readings of the bigger coil. The 6" and 9" pennies were reading about double there depth.

Also as it stands right now I would say the je mode is my number first pick and the bp mode my second pick for best on coins.

Well I don't have a F75 LTD. but when I see a topic that's talking about "All-Metal Mode" and depth it gets my attention. I noticed just the other day with my Teknetics 8500 that if I switch it to GEB max all metal the depth probably doubles! maybe even a little more than that. But in less your going to dig EVERYTHING, or use it to track a metal pipe you really can't coin hunt in that mode, I mean you could retire or die in 3' X 3' square area LOL!
And also I've noticed in the forum's that the deeper you get with even the newer detector's the less reliable the target ID is even with the numeric VID.
True or False?
