LTD depth and disc settings? Bill..??

I noticed that Bill mentioned that the LTD may get good depth with a higher disc in some cases. Have you have any experience with this? Are their breakpoints where it gets hotter or quieter? I find that I can hunt some places with disc=0 and sens=99 and it is quiet as a mouse using the small coil. Other places I cannot use it at all, some places it is a little noisy at disc=0 but is quiet at disc=6 BUT will I gain something over dsic=6 if I raise the disc to say 21? Is there anything to gain by lowering the sens to 40 or 50 if it is reasonably quiet at higher sens? I ask because I have foung the F75 series to do some unexpected things in the past.

Any thoughts or findings?

who were claiming this. I have not really run my disc that high to really give a detailed honest answer at the moment & have mostly run my disc below 4. My style of hunting at mostly Colonial sites have alotta nice buttons & such & possible gold I just do not want to chance discing out. A coin hunter may be able to answer better....

In my test bed, in my dirt, running in BP mode, I can run DISC as high as 50 w/o any loss of depth compared to running DISC=0. Of course I need to change the sensitivity to yield the same degree of background chatter (overall gain), but the detector performs identically over deep silver. I have not yet tested, but I would not be surprised that if I ran DISC=65 (maximum) I would see the identical performance.

I need to get out my manual and I also have a list of TID numbers I made with the original F75, I assume they are the same on the LTD.. and I need to get out in the field!
