MAJOR problem with the Etrac and Pro Coil!

I received permission Monday to hunt a brand new homestead site that has not been hunted before so I packed up the Etrac and decided to use the Pro coil so I could cover a better part of the area quicker. The map looked like the house was a bit off the road so I started back a ways and worked toward the road. Didn't get many signals at all back there but as I worked towards the road the signals increased exponentially to the point that I was afraid I was missing close signals in the trash because of the larger coil. Came away with an 1865 2 Cent piece, an 1871 IH an 1879 IH, and to my surprise a gold ring. Obviously I got the usual crotal bell pieces, bullets, and what's its so I was happy with the first time hunting. Came back the next night with the 6" and covered the dense trashy area "methodically" and ended up with nothing! Hence my dilemma with the Pro Coil. If it can pick ALL of the good targets out of heavy trash the first time through a new site, that takes all the fun of multiple trips back out of the equation! ;) What a problem to have! Mike

The e trac is extremely good at picking the good stuff out of the bad.
Congrats on some great finds.
E-Trac = problem solved!

Ill put my two cents in for the SEF coil...ME LIKEY! Gotta love that 2 cent piece you pulled out with a gold ring ta boot...that's a great hunt any day!

Wish it worked that way around aluminum though. I have a place that is super trashy, and the aluminum just sounds too good not to dig. Its probably me though, because not for nothing I am still relatively new to this.

to what the copper/silver coinage sounds like, unless the aluminum you speak of is a large can or something similar. If you're hunting in an area littered with aluminum pieces, try using Conductive sounds instead of Ferrous sounds. You will then see how much different aluminum will sound to the higher conductive targets. You wouldn't dig another piece of aluminum again looking for copper/silver, unless you want to find nickels/gold jewelry.

Yeah, the Pro-Coil has been a winner for me. Even though it has awesome separation abilities, there are times where I've returned to a highly trashy area with my 6x8 SEF or X8 and found more good targets that I passed over previously.

You can bet you sweet silver dollar there are 1,000s of pull tabs and can slaw here in the NYC parks. Add that x 150 years and you get the picture. The shear fact that even though the pro coil is considered big. It handles the trash very well. I have only used my 6" Excell a couple of time since i bought it. Now i just use it for woods work. Even then i try to go in with the Pro Coil. Facts are facts. The ET just doesn't have the masking problems other machines have. The Pro coil has to be one of the best stock coils that come standard on a machine. A couple of years ago i would be lucky to pull one silver all day with a different "Flagship" machine. Now i pull multiples from in and around trash. I would love to give the 10x12 SEF a go but right now the Pro coil is doing just fine. After all both coils are made by the same company. Maybe i should hit "Clad City" a little more in my park. By the end of the season i should have enough to buy one. And maybe Kellyco will have them back in stock.
