O.K..maybe I missed it in the manual but I was detecting yesterday and I was adjusting..so I thought the tone break for the 3 tone mode. Well I was for a moment then all of a sudden I see C1 on the screen then if I pressed the right arrow button it went to C2 C3 C4 etc. Not sure what this was and now I am not sure what I accidentally changed as I could not find that screen again. Possible I got into it by accident but I never could find a way back into it and not sure where it should be set. Is it a frequency offset or did I somehow get into something else.

You stumbled on to the constant "display lightness settings"

- C stands for continual light

- C1, C2, C3, C4 and C5 are intensity of light

Note there are setting 0 off - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - These are temporary light on when you activate the display in some way - saves battery power

What ever setting you had when you turned the unit off will come back the next time you turn the unit on

So you might want to recheck it

It's the BRIGHT setting under OPTIONS.
(Page 20 of the manual.)

Not to be captain Tardo but it isn't on page 20 of either the regular or racer 2...I can't even find it in the manual anywhere...or has old age finally got me..?

Oops! I'm sorry! I was talking about the Kruzer and its manual.

OK, I'll try again.

The following is from page 11 of the (downloaded) Racer 2 User Guide. (The downloaded User Guide might
differ a little from the printed copy, since they get updated sometimes.) The Backlight setting is
near the lower left corner of the onscreen menu.

------------------------------------------------------
BACKLIGHT

It enables you to adjust the keypad and display backlight level according to your personal
preferences. It ranges between 0-5 and C1-C5. At 0 level, the keypad and display backlight
are off. When set between 1-5, it lights up only for a short period of time when a target is
detected or while navigating the menu and then it goes off. At C1-C5 levels, it will light up
constantly. As the constant operation of the backlight will affect power consumption, it is
not recommended.

The backlight setting is restored to the final saved setting when the device is turned off
and on again. This setting is common in all modes; change made in any mode also applies
to the other modes.
