Mangled Morgan, Walker and Barbers

floodplaindetector

Well-known member
I want to dedicate this post to my parents Richard and Lois who both passed away toward the end of June within a few days of each other.
They were always very eager to see what I found and Dad would often go with me on my excursions when I went to see them on the farm on the western side of the state.

Finds are from my latest weekend hunts with my XP Deus 2 machines that are set up with different coils.
Most everything was found at public parks, schools and fairgrounds except for the chewed up Morgan dollar, an Indian head and V nickel.
Those 3 coins along with the Axe head and bottle were pulled at a street tear out I came across. The 1893 barber dime was pulled just a few minutes from home at a local school.
I nailed the half dollar in a MN city park on Saturday and was happy to see that one. A deeper mercury dime was about 30 feet away.
The small buster brown pin was the result of chasing a deep low tone. Buster brown cartoon originated in 1902. It definitely has some age to it.
Another unexpected find was that C & NW railroad button which read like a wheat penny. From the back mark it should be pushing early 1900s.
I got a similar one a few years ago but that one was smashed.

Thanks for looking!
Dave

My condolences for your parents.
And prayers for you.
Loosing them both is hard.
It is beautiful they went together.
Thankfully they didn't have to live apart.

Beautiful finds as always.
If I ever get back on my feet.
I'd love tagging along.

I've found a few dozen tin buttons in a field I hunt from the same era 1920-30. They sound like a dime and have a similar TID.
They're the bane of my hunts in the particular location.

Amazing finds as usual Dave!
Too bad about the mangled Morgan dollar.
Sorry to hear of the loss of your parents…losing one is hard, but both within days apart had to be very difficult for you.
Sounds like you have very fond of memories of both though which hopefully helps you cope at this difficult time.
