Meager finds today....

Decided to hit my favorite park today and see if Bryce left me another 16D to find ;) Then again, the area I hunted today was about the only area that had been mown in the past week and not a foot high in grass, but it was old ground. I pounded it good for 2 hours and bent to dig twice (did I mention it had been extremely hunted out?). A really promising signal that had me hoping for a seated dime turned out to be a wheatie deep on edge. I wandered into the shade of some big trees but the ground was fill dirt from the 30's and I had not hunted it in years. I scared out a pair of silver dimes from the cinders and iron and had a brief moment of happiness when I pulled out a gold wedding band from another hole...... until I realized it was just gold filled... it's marked "gold shell" inside - I never seen that one before. A small drop of dog tags wound up the day. My son was along for the ride and he had his little 15 dollar kiddie detector with him... it barely finds a soda can under it, but it beeps and has flashing lights and that's enough for him.... for now. He just wants to dig. When I bend down to dig something, he will appear out of nowhere to start stabbing the ground where I cut a plug! I gotta watch my hands so that they don't get hacked up. He's more interested in finding worms and grubs than coins :lmfao: He's a hoot to have along, and he's careful not to step on Dad's detector, so that's fine with me. Take care and HH, Mike.

If only finding a ring and 2 silver is meager you would die hunting down by me - thats a great hunt in my book! :detecting:

Mike....My daughter used to come along on my hunts all the time when she was little. She's 23 now so those days are long gone. Your post brings back those wonderful memories...and that's what it has always been about for me.

She would hunt a little...then she would play along the sidewalk...looking for worms and other critters.

I'm happy for you because you can enjoy the hobby with your boy:clapping:
Whether you find one silver...or 10...it doesn't matter...because you have your son along.

At least you got the 2 Merc's on your hunt and didn't get skunked on the Silver. Maybe next time you will swing over top of that ellusive Seated you were after this last time out....and maybe it will be a BIG ONE!;) The Dog Tags are always fun to add to the collection also. Too bad that Ring wasn't Solid Gold but you gotta take what you get on your outings. Good Luck and HH to you on your next outing.

Glad to see you weren't skunked on the silver. Great to have the kids along. My daughter detected with me till she was 12. She then decided she looked like a dork out there and boys would see her. I tried to tell her boys were jealous cause she was tekin but she wouldn't buy it  Anyways, nice few finds and at least it jarred back some good memories for me too.

Hi Mike, I have been using your settings I have found on the Internet. I have one question. How come you use Fast an deep both on. I have read a few detectorest who say don't use both on. They claim it will hinder to detector. One or the other at one time is considered best by those detectorist. Thank in advance.

Good looking finds Mike Moutray.

An enjoyable post to read.
