Decided to hit my favorite park today and see if Bryce left me another 16D to find
Then again, the area I hunted today was about the only area that had been mown in the past week and not a foot high in grass, but it was old ground. I pounded it good for 2 hours and bent to dig twice (did I mention it had been extremely hunted out?). A really promising signal that had me hoping for a seated dime turned out to be a wheatie deep on edge. I wandered into the shade of some big trees but the ground was fill dirt from the 30's and I had not hunted it in years. I scared out a pair of silver dimes from the cinders and iron and had a brief moment of happiness when I pulled out a gold wedding band from another hole...... until I realized it was just gold filled... it's marked "gold shell" inside - I never seen that one before. A small drop of dog tags wound up the day. My son was along for the ride and he had his little 15 dollar kiddie detector with him... it barely finds a soda can under it, but it beeps and has flashing lights and that's enough for him.... for now. He just wants to dig. When I bend down to dig something, he will appear out of nowhere to start stabbing the ground where I cut a plug! I gotta watch my hands so that they don't get hacked up. He's more interested in finding worms and grubs than coins
He's a hoot to have along, and he's careful not to step on Dad's detector, so that's fine with me. Take care and HH, Mike.
