Meteorite Hunting

Not to many people I know hunt meteorites with the Fischer F70/75 series. Most of us in the field use the VLF Gold bug 2, or Minelab GPX series Pulse Induction detector.

If anyone knows a place you can meteorite hunt I would sure love to take my son. Thanks.

Meteorite men used the T2 and F75 alot. Only time they used pulse induction was with the big 1 meter or larger unit.
F70 will work just fine. Any unit will find irons, even a mikrona from radio shack. To find chondrites or most stoney irons you need a unit that has a manual GB. The f70 is plenty sensitive enough.

Well, I'm going to say they 'Fall Where They Fall' so I would try some wooded areas (public or permission on privet land) that has little to no foot traffic, this will help filter out peoples tossed trash. I know I've heard them sprinkle down in the leaves of trees off in the distance on an occasion.
I wouldn't even attempt to hunt for them in any public gathering place! (Parks, ball fields, or other like place).
I would think searching in all metal would be the best, but you may do okay at a discrimination of 1 or 2.
You would for sure need a magnet, and the magnet doesn't have to be fancy, even though I decided to make one up as a detecting tool out of 1/2" PVC pipe, and some 1/2" Dia rare earth magnets off FleaBay.
