Mid February BONUS hunt.:clapping: Got two 11" DEEP silver dimes.:super:

Heard we were supposed to get 5" of snow the other day...so I thought I'd make one more trip to the park with the sand pit.

Good thing I did because we did get dumped on.

There are no more areas for me that aren't frozen up right now...so this was my only choice.

There are no old silver coins within my reach here because over 8" of sand was dumped on this spot back in the mid 60's.

Each and every old coin here is at least 10" deep....and the slver here has been at the 11" level.

I pulled an 11" deep silver quarter here about 2 weeks ago...along with 5 deep wheaties.

With snow and freezing temps coming...I thought I'd give it one more shot. I just needed a break from the cabin fever...and my buddy Hercules wanted to run around a little.

I took my SE and Darrell's E-trac...and ONLY the 10 x 12 SEF coil along.

I was able to pull one more DEEEEEEP Roosey with the SE/SEF combo. It came out pitch black:ninja:...just like the '47 washington quarter a couple of weeks ago..and came from the same 11" depth level.

I then decided to put the 10 x 12 on "Heavy D's" E-trac.

After an hour or so I was able to sniff out one more deepie from the outmost part where they dumped all the sand.

This one was in part sand....part rock...right on the edge of the pile...and it too came from 11" down.

All I have to say about the dime found with the E-trac....THANK YOU ONE TOUCH, ALL METAL QUICKMASK SETTING

Don't know why...but it was just a peep of a signal. When I switched to quickmask...it was still JUST a peep BUT cleaned up enough that I gave it a shot.:super:

It was the first coin from here that didn't emerge dark black. I assume because it wasn't laying 100% in the deep sand like the others.

Hey...NO complaints here.:) TWO coins...BOTH silver....MID February...SNOW everywhere...AND my buddy Hercules got to run around.:clapping:

I think this was my first ever hunt where I dug TWO coins from measured depths of 11" each....AND they were both silver.

After all the action:biggrin:...Herky decided he would get his orange mail truck toy:)...fetched it a few times:)...growled at it a few times:cool:...then just relaxed with it.:bouncy:

I believe ya! Big congrats, but yikes, 1950s silver THAT DEEP! ?? I know, the sand dumping.......but it makes ya think how deep some really old silver must be in some places.:surprised: I took my new SEF 10x12 out for its maiden voyage yesterday to a pounded park. I have personally hunted this park 47 times now and have pulled over 250 wheaties and 50 silver out of here. And the SEF helped keep my wheatie streak intact yesterday at 47 STRAIGHT HUNTS here! :starwars: I'm happy to report that the SEF is a cinch to pinpoint with. I was worried when I unpacked it because it looked like SUCH A MONSTER. It only feels a tad heavier to me than the Pro coil, but nothing fatiguing, since I run my shaft kinda short and get my shoulder up and over the coil anyway (I'm glad that Minelab increased the vertical angle of the shaft 15 degrees. :clapping:). Thanks again Bryce for the good field report.

I always enjoy reading your posts, Bryce, and this one was no exception. (You really should write a book. :) I bet you get that all the time.) It's absolutely amazing that you pulled two silver dimes from 11 inches. I read in another post where you ignored the suggested sensitivity and cranked it up to 24 in manual. I like that you are not afraid to break the rules and that you have pushed the E-trac to a new level of performance. I say that because (and I could be wrong) I've never heard of anyone getting a dime that deep with the E-trac before. Amazing!

trust me....I've ignored a lot of things I've been told and that I've read about the Explorers and E-trac:rolleyes:

Thank goodness...'cause I would have missed over 50 silver coins in '09 alone that I found when my SE was in a dead null.

I believe I read in a place or 2..or maybe 100 places that I couldn't find deep coins when my machine was nulling.

My honest opinion is that some people spend waaaaay too much time analyzing things...instead of experimenting in the field where they should be.

I don't think "Heavy D" will be getting his E-Trac back anytime soon...and if he thinks he will...he's gonna' have a fight on his hands:bouncy:

I am absolutely thrilled to find the dime at 11" with the E-trac.

To be honest...I knew I could with my SE and have done it a couple of times before. I can probably count the number of 100% true and accurately measured 11" deep dimes I've found with the SE on 3 to 5 fingers...but I have done it those few times.

I can also say with 100% honesty that the dime with the E-trac was 11" deep...which really impressed me. After the 11" quarter...I was excited...but to now know the E-Trac will hit a tiny silver dime at 11" with the limited time I have on it...man I'm pumped

10 x 12 SEF coil on the E-trac after I had the results I did on "Heavy D's" E-Trac.

The bad part about the two 11" deep dimes I found is that I KNOW there are coins deeper under all that sand...but 11" is the deepest I personally have EVER found a dime. My deepest coin ever was the 12" deep Morgan dollar I found last year.

Kinda' wish I could wave a magic wand and scrape about 10" of top soil/sand off of this spot and see what's underneath it.:bouncy:

GPX-4500, which apparently picks up matchstick-head-sized items at well over a foot. But get someone else to clean out the top 8-11 inches first!

I just posted about which coil to buy the SEF or the Pro coil. Well I just read this and I guess I'll go ahead and order the SEF. Bryce sounds like you have definately found a new girlfriend:inlove:The E Trac is simply amazing. I've gotten 3 coins that I just wouldn't post how deep they were for obvious reasons. A nickel was very deep and didn't fall back in the hole:bouncy:And only running an E Trac at a dead snails pace would any naysayer say you can't find anything in a dead null. That's the sweet secret of the E Trac that a lot just cannot do. Move a quarter inch and let the coil sit until the null goes away, when it does and if there is an accepted target, or in wide open quickmask it will sound off the good target. I feel sure 99% of metal detectors could not do that. Let me go to the Kellyco website now................I've got slobber all over my keyboard now!

Thanks for sharing your finds

Darrell, you really should take the E-Trac back if you want to even think of digging up another coin! Even the 11" strata isn't safe anymore around him! Really, WTG Bryce!! Diggin those deepies really makes it fun!

[attachment 152787 snickeringdogflashing.gif] Thanks buddy. Me and "Heavy D" just might commence to lockin' horns if he tries to get his E-Trac back
[attachment 152788 brucelee.gif]

I had the pleasure of testing it out before it was readily available in the states so I found out what it was capable of early on.

To find out it works well for me on Darrell's E-Trac though...man it's gonna' be a fun year [attachment 152789 happydance.gif]

Yeah I'm gonna try the SEF 10X12 out, it ships Monday from KCo. I've got one more lower rod now without anything to hang on it......mmm......FWIW did you have to do anything special with the SEF or just mount it, noise cancel and swing? I thought I had read where a few had to reset the machine or something with one of the SEF's. Just wondering.........................

It did take some getting used to....very precise...sharp sounds. So much so in fact...that it really threw me at first. Like a pinball bouncing off of each individual target. I wasn't used to the separation like that from a coil that size....while still getting the sweet sounds over deepies.

I did get great separation with the pro coil too....but to me...the sounds were not as crisp and distinguishable as with the 10 x 12. Just my opinion from the testing I did.

You might try it...and still like the pro coil better. We each have our own preferences as to what we like to hear.

If that's the case...I bet you won't have any problem selling it on the forum classifieds.

No worry about the Pro coil, I sent it to ML because it wasn't as sharp a sound as the Sunrays I have and USPS lost it en route. Insurance on it came today in the mail. I'll be running it next week sometime and report on it.

place the etrac back in my hands. Its okay though because I like using all his equipment too.
Us hunting buds have to stick together. share and share alike...lol.

If you want it back, you might have to chase him to get it!
