The last couple of days using the Stock headphones for the Explorer II have showed me allot about this machine. If your using the stock headphones, Then Toss them in the trash!!! Yes I said Toss the Koss. The reason I can say this is I have used Black Widows for the last 2 years until I recently broke the cord on mine. That was my fault I yanked the wires loose. I asked a friend of mine Ross if I could borrow his backup pair. Now I thought that the Koss Brand was a good brand of head phones. Maybe if you like the Base sound. Wow was I surprised how bad they were. I have gotten good enough with the Explorer II to tell a silver dime from a wheat penny when I used My black Widows. The silver makes a slightly higher pitch. It's real easy to tell. Put on those Koss head phones, and you can't tell squat. All those deep signals are gone, no matter what gain you use. I run 6 most of the time and I like the deep fluty signals. Not on the Koss, there gone. What I'm trying to say is if your using them now, your in for a big wake up call if you get some new quality head phones. I'm not flexing the black Widows muscle, If you use the Grey ghost, Troy's, or any better quality Headphones you will have a better sound distinction at the upper sound end. You will be able to hear the Deep sounds. My question is a simple one. Why would Mine Lab try to make the machine sound worse by giving such junkie headphones with such a great detector. It's like putting Crappy tires on a sports car. Sure they will work, but performance is lacking. Come on Mine Lab get on the Ball. You want to make you Detector better. Toss the Koss. After I took the head phones off, I started finding coins again. That says it all. In the future I would like to see Mine Lab add better headphones for there Top of the line Detector. I hope they read this.

PS When I bought my mine lab Explorer II I didn't get headphones with it, so I had no idea how bad the stock ones were.
