Hi, well I would have to say the x-terra line is a good detector and rather easy to use. I had good results with my x-terra 70, hope this helps. HH

My first Minelab was the Explorer XS and to be honest w/o someone to help me with it I was ready to leave in the woods for about the 1st year! I would say the XTerra line would be a good bet for you.

The first detector I've ever owned was a Minelab Explorer II, and I love it! I must admit though that without knowing anyone else at the time who was detecting and being very new to it that I had a difficult time at first. I was even to the point of returning it because I thought it wasn't working properly. Then I decided to give it another season and with time I learned how to use it properly. So my advise to you is to get the one you really want instead of going for the easiest one. With time you will gain all the knowledge you need to become successful with any detector.
When I was looking for my first detector I was very green and had no idea what I was looking for. So I decided on the Minelab Explorer II because it was the most expensive one I could find at the time so I figured it must be good. Man am I glad I did!!! ...Aaron

Which Minelab is the easiest to learn to use?

IMO the easiest first in that order:

Minelab Musketeer Advantage
http://www.minelab.com/usa/products/coin-relic-detectors/musketeer-advantage

then the Sovereign GT & Excalibur II, X-Terra 305, Safari.

The XTerra70 very light and easy to use, the Safari a little heavy but a truly switch on and go machine.
