I am looking at a Minelab Safari or at an explorer ii. Need a little help as this will be my first Minelab.
Coming from White's MXT. Can anyone tell me what the weight would be on these detectors?
Thanks Mike

The Safari shipping weight excluding batteries 3 lb. 10 oz. Yours is 4.3 and the Mine lab Explorer is 4.0 If you buy the Safari get the Quattro/ Safari Handbook by Andy Sabisch. I just purchased one and it helped me a great deal. This is my first MD, so I couldn't tell you about the Explorer. I love the Safari, I am still learning how to use it.

Jim

I have owned my Safari for a little over a year & like Jim I love it. I've recently learned to dig those deep iffy signals & my good finds have gone up.
Don't know the Explorer so I cant really say which is better, but I don't think the Safari will disappoint you. Just be patient & learn the machine.
Good Luck

Thanks, can't wait to get it and get started detecting.

If you need help, just ask here. Lots of good folks here to help you.

And what is nice, that I like, all levels of knowledge!

Anyway... WELCOME

Thanks .I know that there will be ??? I have read some of the posts and know there is a lot of knowledge on here and that everyone is very helpful. Just like Christmas now, can't weight to get it here.

And have just traded my Explorer SE for another Safari. Just love the simple operation with the power of the Explorers that the Safari has......MO

It's all about the tones. The Xterra 705 is my main machine for relic hunting, but when I get into hunting yards I like the Safari more for the deep silver. The 705 is a little faster recovery for relics in iron.......MO

I have used the Xterras since they came out and have tried others for relic hunting, a lot of top machines including other Minelabs, always go back to the Xterra with the 10.5 DD coil. Hunt in all metal 2 tone with tracking on and never have to ground balance. Have gotten a lot of deep relics with it like this bullet at 12" deep. Yes the Safari, Explorers and Etrac will get one like this, but the Xterra has a more distinct signal on them.......MO

Set them the way you like and turn on and go. It even has multi tone that mimics the FBS Machines..........MO
