Minelabs Count Down...

Buried Crap NJ

New member
To what I don't know?
Click on the Minelab Banner at top of page to see the count down to something as well as Minelab appreciation day hunts that might be near you with prizes.

Sure looks like a new machine is coming out because that combined with this guy's blurb of a Minelab tech saying we'd be "blown away" is starting to add up to something...

I was at the B.O.N.E. last weekend in NH and there was a Minelab sales rep & tech there at dinner every night. Was great to have someone answer questions. I begged for info on new products but they wouldn't give a peep, even after a couple beers. Only thing they'd say was that we were gonna be blown away this year.

I just hope the machine isn't a giant leap in technology some how (like say a picture of the target in the ground) that will make it real easy for people to clean up all the silver that is left in old parks, and easy to find all the gold rings while leaving the junk...Because if that kind of thing ever is developed it will quickly KILL the metal detecting hobby and in the long run hurt their sales as well for these companies. As it stands right now even with the best of machines (Minelabs) on the market you still have to work in many instances to pull more silver from pounded out sites. Things like digging signals that are so deep that they are iffy, or one way coin signals that are a null or junky sounding the rest of the way around the target because of severe masking. I like things the way they are...Where most of the time you have to work for those silvers still left and nobody who doesn't earn his stripes through experience can just buy a machine and walk away with all the silver that is left to be found. If that changes to where some machine can easily get all the coins that are left and not have to fight for many of them then good bye hobby.

:lmfao: could they make it any more dramatic it better be good and not just a pin pointer, on the other hand if it is the new best thing more money i need to spend yuk!!

I just don't want to see something that is so far advanced that like I said it will *easily* get the rest of the silver that is deep or hiding in trash, or be able to get gold rings while leaving pull tabs and other junk behind. If that happens then like I said it will be the end of this hobby. Quickly the public spots will dry completely up and be truly "hunted out" for real this time, and the only place you'll be able to go will be private land that hasn't seen one of these new detectors yet.

Interesting , all they say is this ..... 32 hours
that is 8PM Thursday night est .

The Countdown is on...

You may have noticed our homepage has recently been taken over by a 48 hour countdown. We can

It's going to be that new pinpointer. That will be a let down for some people but I'll be real happy. I'm just paranoid about a machine with such a leap in ability that all the hard to find silver or say gold rings that still exist out there will be sucked up by a newbie with no experience and nothing will be left. Please don't let that happen, as it will be the death of this hobby except for water hunting for fresh dropped gold rings or hunting private land. :rage:

i think minelab PI unit ... do thet have a PI machine??

Taken from a dealers website....so its defo a new general use detector

The latest top of the range general treasure hunting metal detector has been announced by Minelab. It is so top secret that what you see here is as much as we know. More details are to be released on May 4th.The new metal detector Minelab are hailing 'The Future of Discovery'

Note the bolded!

OK, here's some more mindless speculation for you...

With that tid bit of information combined with the patent link that was posted that makes reference to ability to handle rough ground minerals...Perhaps the only real new ability of this machine will be to get deeper in severly mineralized ground that even current Minelabs have trouble with such as the red iron rich clay in VA and such.

And so *maybe* it will only show a real advantage in depth in those rare situations...And that you wouldn't really see a performance increase over current Minelabs in most common moderate to heavy mineralized sites that they can handle with no real problems. That's what I'm hoping. I can live with that, because then there would be no need to sell off the current Minelabs unless your ground was so severly mineralized that this machine would get deeper in those rare spots that they couldn't handle, but in most moderate to heavy mineralization the current line up will get just as deep there as it will?

That's a big stretch, I know. But it is fun to speculate, ain't it? Just don't want to see some new super ability to reach deeper coins in most grounds than the current machines, or ability to unmask stuff like magic, or say the ability to get gold rings and leave the trash all behind. Those kinds of things would be the end of the hobby IMHO.

I hear it is waterproof as well, maybe a new E Trac that will go in the water like the AT Pro.........

Not long now :)

Would like to see a new Sovereign , Sov GT 2 WP with duel technologically BBS FBS based on which coil you wish to use , Land and Sea , comes with 2 interchangeable coils BBS and FBS completely water proof , with a WP 180 meter built in , water proof head phones . $$ ? wish full thinking :minelab:
12 hours we all know . Jim

I keep hearing people say they want a waterproof Etrac. FBS isn't going to give you any more depth than BBS on the Excal. And from what I've read some say their FBS machines are no where as stable (lots of little falsing and such) on the beach than the BBS machines are. I can dig up some quotes on that from those who own both if you want me to support it. None of the tweaking functions would also be useful for water hunting, unless it was of course a machine like an AT Pro that is light enough to be used comfortably on land as well.

You guys need to check out these two threads in the Etrac forum. It's getting crazy about this new machine. I also posted my gist of what I think the patent implies in a very unique ability not found on any other detector...

Who knows might be a whole new forum needed for a new machine no one has seen or heard of yet ?
Minelabs new ultra deep Sod-Buster 3 ........

I would love it to be a new Sovereign!
But to avoid a letdown lets pretend that in no way it is a new Sovereign. BUT WHAT IF IT IS! :yikes:

Jason

That is one thing that is certain. Anyone care to guess the price of said unannounced product.

I bet it will cost 2k.

HH
Jason.

If it is a new Sovereign we can only pray it is under 1k.

Don't think it's a new Sovereign. I read through the patent for it and it's got the same frequency range of FBS machines. I gather from the jist of it that it has a new way to process the received signal which should show improvement in the most severe ground, but I doubt it will show any improvement over the SE, Etrac, or Sovereign in most ground conditions as they can handle even very mineralized soils with no problem. It will probably only be able to get more depth in the worst of the worst like red iron rich clay in VA.

Its properly close to 2 grand with all the hupla going on , i did read some of the patent i saw water proof controls they called it a water proof cover mattress hhmm . Jim 5 hours !!
