On Monday I was able to hunt a schoolhouse site that was in a farm field where the Soy Beans had been harvested early. The 1866 map showed the schoolhouse on a corner of an 80 acre field. The map also showed a house site about 100 yards down the road. I hunted the mapped schoolhouse site about an hour and a half with my F75 in 1n mode. All of the targets were scrap copper and brass objects. I then decided to hunt the “house” site that was also shown on the map. I began to find targets right away that were more common to schoolhouse sites such as harmonica reed parts and also a broken brass bell parts. I then hit a target at 4 inches that gave a solid 67 target readout. When I dug it it turned out to be a Two Cent piece with an 1866 date. The next target I dug was an 1867 Shield Nickel that read 34 on the F75. Several feet away I got another solid 67 reading that turned out to be another 1866 Two Cent piece. Along with the 1864 Indian head I’m thinking that this second site was indeed the school site that had been mismapped on the map which is not uncommon. As a side note this school did not show up on any maps that were printed after 1866. This school was probably not used very long befor being torn down or moved. Thanks for looking
